I'm 31 and having trouble with ED. I believe the cause of my problem is my anxiety/depression(?). Has anyone had a similar experience? Also, has anyone overcome their ED problem by recovering from anxiety/depression?

I am new to the program - in my first week - and I am not sure that my physical problem is reversible. Looking for advice and some hope.

Thank you.

Hi Lastudent:

Guy here, too. I've never had a problem with ED, either on or off meds. But, I would definitely recommend that you see a urologist before assuming that your problem is psychological. There are some diseases that can cause ED, heart disease diabetes, etc. I think you have those ruled out first. Then, you'll know what kind of ED you're dealing with.

Whether or not it's physical or psychological, there are lots of treatments now. So don't lose hope, it's likely you'll be able to function "normally" once you figure out the cause.

Thanks for your input. I have seen a urologist and other specialists. They cannot find anything wrong with me on a physical level. It is very scary and frustrating. I'm hoping that as I work the Attacking .....program, I will see improvement with the ED. It feels like my last chance.

I've had ED since the late fall of '90 (22 yrs old). I'm a VERY healthy 40 yr old now and have been fully checked out by speacialist. I'm also VERY frustrated. This is basically my last stop. I've never been married and have no children. I've got a lot to offer, but I need to "cure" or sucessfully manage my GAD and depression. I should have done this yrs ago, but I had no idea what to do or turn to.

Hi laststudent,

I agree with Christian. Get yourself checked out by a urologist.

However, just because he did not experience problems in that area while using medication doesn't mean that the medications are not affecting you in that way.
Here is a great resource for checking on side effects and contra-indications on any medication and possible side effects and contra-indication between vitamin supplements and prescription medication.

I am suffering from ED due to negative outcomes from recent back surgery and epidural to try to reduce my back and leg pain. I am 59 and never had this problem before these medical procedures. It is very frustrating, disappointing, and depressing.

I wish all the best and hope thing improve for you soon.

Hi last student, Sorry to hear that you have been through this as Erectile Dysfunction (inability to sustain erection) is a very common disorder which most men face in there life at some stage for one reason or the other like high blood pressure, high cholesterol, diabetes, fatigue, stress, physical injuries, certain medication, smoking and alcohol consumption. The exact reason behind your problem can only be judged by a specialist and only then one should use the medicines prescribed. You can have the information on ED and ED related drugs (Viagra, Levitra and Cialis) on http://www.viagraforce.com/ So the best thing you can do is to just consult a specialist, get to the root of the cause and have the medication prescribed and surely you can get over your problem.

Hi Guys,

It looks like you've all thoroughly covered the medical/physical/psychological reasons for ED.

Can I put out there that there's a really great book by a guy who struggled with ED in his 20s for years? It's called, "She Comes First" by Ian Kerner. (It sounds sexist, but it's not, I promise!) It basically explores options for guys with ed, and helps with treatment.

Be kind to yourselves :)
