Anyone read any of her books or know anything about her?

I read a book she wrote many years ago. In fact, it was the first book I read that described my anxiety and panic attacks. At that time, there was little else available. I believe I still have it, however all my books are in boxes right now. Do you have a book by her?

Hi Holly, I have Claire Weekes's book Hope and Help for Your Nerves. I highly recommend it. It was written around 1969 when no one really knew what panic/anxiety was. Back then it was referred to as nervous illness and when people were in this state it was considered that they were having a nervous breakdown. Today our disorders are not labeled this way but the symptoms are all the same. Dr. Weekes writes about all the symptoms we have from our disorder and gives outstanding ways to get through them. Her advice is so much like the StressCenter.com Program. She suggests "floating" through the symptoms. There are a lot of parallel's in her teachings and the StressCenter.com Program.

I really think it would be very useful for you to purchase this book. I'm so glad I did. In addition to the program, it has helped me immensely. I also purchased the DVD with the book and I love to sit and listen to her speak about anxiety/panic/depression and hear her recommendations on how to deal with it. She was truly a pioneer in her time to have recognized the suffering we endure with this disorder.

I also have Clare Weeks books and she is wonderful as Donna stated! I love the way she teaches and reminds us throughout all her books to face the anxiety, float with it, then let time pass. Very simple steps and she's right on target. I always tell myself, allow time, time and more time to pass. She never puts a time limit on anxiety disorder. I'm reading as much as I can about this condition and I feel that it helps tremendously along with this program. Good luck Holly!

Hi Poppyuk, I was just reading your post and I'm glad you enjoy books by Claire Weekes also! I have read Hope and Help for your Nerves and I refer to it very often. I'm going to purchase the book your referred to, Self Help for Nerves.

I went on the internet and googled her name and that's how I purchased my first book. They also have others written by her.

Hello Clare Weeks fans...I buy my books from Amazon.com. She has several books out and she has done tapes as well. She actually has one called More Hope and Help for your Nerves in addition to the original hope and help for nerves. She's great, and good luck finding her books...she's worth the effort to find them.

I am reading Hope and Help for your Nerves right now and find it to be right in line with what Lucinda talks about. My Dad read this book years ago and got me a copy off of Amazon.com. It is great! I highly recomend it.
