Hello,

I just did this therapy last friday.
It is called EMDR therapy and it is for post tramatic stress disorder. I have also heard it is used for many other disorders.
I've only done it once. I have another session on the 25th of this month. I think it helped but I haven't gotten to the worst of my past yet with it. I also have anxiety/ It's worth a try and that's why I am doing it. I am on session 2 of the program.
I also take Lexapro and Ambien. I am hoping to get off the Ambien soon. I have been taking it for over a month now. Has anyone else taken Ambien this long?
I will post how the next EMDR session goes.
Give it a try it's supposed to be really beneficial after you complete it.

i just finished my Emdr thearapy to get rid of a post tramatic event from when i went to italy. it actually worked really well, basically you just pick a scene and a word to go with it and then you rate it on like a 1 to 7 scale and then you try and picture your event and all the bad things come out and then at the end you pick a peaceful scene and a word to go with it and then you do it until your rating of the post tramatic event is a 0.. i highly suggest you try it!

I've used EMDR for panic and anxiety and found it really works well. It helps to pinpoint what really is at the root of your anxiety and then helps to empower you and install positive thoughts. I highly recommend it!

Dear wens,

I've been taking Ambien or Ambien CR pretty much nightly for the past couple years. I don't feel I am "addicted" to it, because I can sleep some nights without it. I have tried Rozerium (sp?) and it is completely non-addictive physically. It works on different nerve inhabitors in the brain than the other sleeping meds.

There are also some great herbal remedies you can try. Pretty much everyone in my family is somewhat of an insomniac; my siblings have used melatonin, tart cherry capsules, and, believe it or not, triptaphan (the stuff found in turkey) capsules.

Best Wishes!

Dear Fischee,

Thank you for the response. I have not tried sleeping without the Ambien yet but I think I will give it a try this weekend. I have had sleeping problems for years now.
I have also tried many herbal remedies. I have to say that Valerian Root tastes nasty! YUCK!
I have never heard of the capsules for tryptophan.
Thank you,
Wendy
