Hi all,
I have a fear that something will be wrong with the baby. I just want him to be healthy and on time (not early) I think that I am doing ok, and then I might hear someone talking about their little one or something along the lines of pregnancy and I think something bad is going to happen. And the people don't even have to be talking about bad things, it just like triggers my brain or something. I am 6 months pregnant too by the way..
What is wrong with me???
Besides being retarded or something!!!
worried about something new!
I've never been a mommy, but I want to be. I have plenty of friends that have and I do know that this was a common fear. All the babies are great, different in their own ways, but great none the less.
Three months into one of my friends pregnancies she began having dreams of giving birth to spaghetti, broccoli, she even had a dream about giving birth to a litter of puppies! She was like -- what do you think it means? I told her I was pretty sure she wasn't going to have puppies but if she did I would take one.
In all seriousness, I do believe in the power of prayer and the fact that God doesn't give you anything you can't handle. So, how about we both pray for the health of your baby, because that is something we can do!
Oh...and remember that you have some HORMONES going on to. You're going to be ok.

I have two children and it is very "normal" to think thoughts like that during pregnancy (and when your babies are 21 even! LOL
). Just remember that your baby is affected by your stressors too. When you start thinking those thoughts, jsut say a prayer and/or take calming breaths and talk soothingly to your baby. Tell him that he is growing and soon he'll be ready to come out and meet his mommy...and how you are looking forward to it. Saying this out loud may sound kooky, but your baby will be hearing your voice (which is a good thing!) and you will hear your voices and your words (and we all know how our brains believe what our mouths say!!!).
Everything will be fine!!
Blessings on you and your baby,
Dawn

Hi,
Don't worry you are 'normal'! Congrats on your pregnancy!! I have 3 kids and was the most worried about the first and last during pregnancy. I think most women are worried esp during the first pregnancy! Just know that you are taking good care of yourself and eating lots of healthy, yummy food to make that baby grow! I was afraid with #3 because I worked in a neonatal intensive care unit and that was all that I worked with, preemies and babies with congenital defects! We had babies as young as 22 weeks and 5 days survive, 2 different babies weighed just 15 ounces at birth and both survived and went home with their parents very close to the original due date! It was such a testimony to me of the strength and will of the human spirit! I think I would have been less afraid to have a preemie if it had happened (ALL of my kids were overdue, from 4 days to 17 DAYS!), because of the awesome medical interventions that are available.
Most babies are born 100% healthy and on time or overdue for first timers.
Take care and congrats!!

your feeling normal thoughts...I have two babies and it used to bother me too when Id hear stories good and bad. I would be like what the heck is that susposed to mean...but I think its just natural mother instinct to protect even before the babies come that instinct comes into play. I became so caught up in this baby needs to be healthy and everything must be perfect and Id hear bad stories and think oh no what if that happened....well my best advice to you is to say please dont talk about babies to me it upsets me....I did that with the second one and it was much easier for me....about 6 months I was sick to death of babies and having babies and talking about babies its all anyone talks about to a pregnant woman and its so overwhelming.
Your going to be fine. Keep doing what your doing to keep your baby healthy and follow your doctors instructions and dont read ahead about all the possibilities that could happen....just go with the moment your in.
REST as much as you can....believe me when baby comes youll be happy you did.
Enjoy this time....I know its hard and seems like it will never end but when its all over you will find yourself saying that wasnt so bad or long....I never thought I would but I do.
Congratulations on the baby and hang in there your going to be a wonderful mom........you already are.
