Whelp, this day started off for me a little off the wall. I had my chest tightness, but it was muscular in nature, I had done some stretching the night before.

Then my son complained about a sore throat and then his semi-usual belly pain.

Wife and I are trying not to set any sort of precedent, and he went to school My wife took him to the nurses office and explained about the normal (recently) belly pains. We had given him some Maalox Jr, and figured he'd be OK. He had a normal BM the night before.

Well, I could not stop thinking about it all day and my wife called just before 2pm to say that the school called and he had a 102.4. temp.

He maid it through the day somehow, but she did take him to the doctor. The doctor is sending him for blood work, for what I have no idea. He does not feel the fever and the belly pain are related. He says he has a sore throat, a quick complaint this morning.

Well, I had been trying to go it alone, no pills, etc, but my head was doing somersaults! I gave in and took a pill about an hour ago. I am feeling much better.

I just feel so bad for my son! :(

I know some here have asked if he has anxiety and while I think maybe a little, nothing like this and certainly not the cause of 102.4 temp. Hopefully his body is fighting whatever it is he has had and I can get my happy go lucky full of energy kid back soon!

Thanks for listening. While I have been trying not to take the Xanax, I think it was the right move today!

Hey Engine.

My niece had the same symptoms, she did have a temp her stomache hurt as well she had gone to the doctors twice they had told my sister that it was the flu to let it run its corse. she had been sick for two weeks well they finaly did the blood work today and she has Mono. There are many cases in her school. So I guess it is better to be safe and have the blood work done.

Hope your son feels better soon. :) It is awful when they get sick.

Engine22,

That was a day, sorry it wasn't a great one. I think taking the meds was a good idea and I am not a pill person at all. If it isn't natural I wont take it but with all that going on I probably would have done the same thing. Some days I think people need something to help them with their days, and its not like you are taking it all the time so your doing great! I hope that your son gets to feeling better! The blood work is to make sure he doesn't have a stomach problem like with his apendix or something like that. They are just making sure that he doesn't have anything majorly wrong so they cover their butts. He probably has strep throat I use to get a bad fever when I had it which was every year for about 10 years. He might have anxiety at school that is causing the stomach to hurt I use to have bad stomach pains while I was in school. Just a thought! Keep us updated and I will keep you in my thoughts! Bless you@

Thanks for the replies. Xanax made me feel much better. If it was just me I'd be fighting it, but I need to make sure I am not flipping out for the sake of my son.

As for his aliments, I think the stomach, fever, etc are not fully related. He definitely has a head cold brewing. He asked his mom why is head felt like it was swelling. (Poor kid).

All these things, Hopefully he will get through it. Doctor said his throat was not red.

We'll see what they say, I'd be shocked about Mono (he ain't kiss'in no one yet), etc...but we shall see.
