As its New Years i'm in a predicament as to what to do. Do I go out to a party and ge drunk and have a good time, or do I stay at home and be anxious and depressed, While I may have a good time tonight I will be even more depressed tomorrow with the alcohol, I could go out without drinking but that defeats the purpose, I worry if I dont go out I will regret it

It all depends on how you will feel in the morning. If you go out and drink, you'll pay for it in the morning. If you stay home, you'll be depressed on New Year's Day. Can you go out with friends and drink non-alcoholic drinks ? That way you'll get the best of both worlds. Just think how you'll feel New Year's Day. You will feel good that you went out, but you'll feel fine in the morning. Start 2009 off on a good note ! That's what I plan on doing.

who say's you have to go out and get drunk?

why can't you go out, be an ADULT, enjoy yourself, relax, and have fun without hurting yourself?

(Gosh, I'm starting to sound like my father).

Some of the best parties I've been to have been dry parties, no alcohol served - in any form. What a blast! The next morning, I was just tired and thankfully, not regretful of anything.

WHAT IS SO BAD ABOUT GOING OUT BUT NOT DRINKING ALCOHOL? DRINK SOMETHING ELSE.

you can always order "virgin" drinks like virgin margaritas, virgin martinis, virgin lava flows...or anything else other than alcohol. however, if you feel you must drink with everyone tonight, just pace yourself, sip whatever it is you're drinking (possible even with beer), eat appetizers and socialize....you'll last longer and you won't feel so hungover and horrible the next morning!!

Just limit yourself to one or two (three tops). You could also volunteer to be the driver so you won't be tempted to go overboard. I am in the same boat, can't drink due to some health issues I have been having, but I figured it would still be fun to go out and socialize (and I am driving, so my friends are pretty psyched about that)...

Ifor myself have to think yhis out, I don't worry to much of getting drunk [which would be nice since I only have a beer or two so often] is that I may get the bright light, feelling of unrest, looppy feellings and the heart rushand to get out now or else.
I would think if you set your mind to it that you can do it and if you think about it go and have a good time and if need be just move around alot and go outside if need be, always remember that you are in control and if you need to leave, you can.
The big thing to remember if you do drink, wait to drive and if on med's be carefull and have a good time, if you are unease about it drive yourself that helps me alot [well most of the time] and that will give you the control feelling.
HAPPY 2009 and let us know on the Friday what happen.
P.S
If you don't go thats just find to,the thing is that you thought about and did something [that is you wrote to this and your are about to do it] most people don't even get that far. Good luck  :?
