Hi anxiety271981,
First, let me welcome you to the forum. You will find support, encouragement, and learn a lot about a lot of things that may help you.
I want you to realize that you at least recognize that you are ahead of the curve. You at least recognize that you are suffering from Panic/Anxiety disorder that may lead to depression and also that you need help. Even if it took you some time to recognize that you need help; It is never too late.
Now, try to remain calm. First, learn do some controlled breathing exercises. Take a deep breath in from your nose for a 1001, 1002 count. Hold that breath for 1001, 1002 count. Let your breath out of your mouth for 1001, 1002, 1003, 1004. Repeat this several times, and keep doing this until get begin to feel you are getting control of your heart beat. It may take a few minutes, but keep doing this until you are able to feel relaxed.
I want you think about what it is that is really bothering you. What is it that could be so terrible?
Think about what you were doing that seemed to cause or trigger the sense of panic that you feel.
See if you can rate from 1-10, the sense of panic that you feel or felt. Is it really that bad?
I can't send you a copy of the relaxation tape that comes with the program, but I will try to guide you through, as best I can. You need to remind yourself that it is just a panic attack. There is really nothing wrong with you. You are a good person. God unconditionally Loves you. You can overcome this problem with the proper tools.
Right now you may not be able to afford the program, but you have your peers here to try to help you.
Just remember that we are not professional counselors, but are learning to cope and learning to try to help ourselves change for a better life, just like you want to do. One that teaches us that we are not alone. We can learn to conquer this problem one moment at a time; after all, that is all we have. What may be in our past is water over the damn, and there is little we can do about that. What is in our future is yet to come. So all we have is our now. Our moment. How do you want to live that moment?
Panic attacks are triggered by our thoughts. Can we control our thoughts? Truly, we can!
You have to learn more about yourself, what are the thoughts that are giving you all this grief? When we realize that we are having the thoughts that lead to the spiral of a panic attack, we need to change our thoughts to some other thing that will help us distract our negative thoughts that lead to that spiral and distract the thoughts with some other activity. Such as, relaxation breathing, some physical activity, exercise, singing, dancing, laughing, playing a game, reading, or listening to some relaxation music.

She has a radio station you can click to from the link above.
If you feel that you would like to write me via email, my email is available via my profile page. I do not stay up late, but I do check on my email several times during the day, and if you write me, I will write you back.
If you need to talk to me, I will give you my cell number. If you can not stay on the phone line because of the expense, I will call you back if it is at a reasonable time. I will be a friend to you and help you get through as best as I can.
Now, try the things I mentioned here and see if that helps at least for a few moments in time.
May God Bless you and keep you safe in all you do and wherever you go, and may he send you a help mate to get you through whenever, I am unable to. I pray that you are okay with my praying for you.
Again, breathe easy and controlled as I shared with you earlier. You can do this, one moment at a time.
BTW, whenever you are posting a comment or response, copy your comments or reply by right clicking in the window selecting, select all, then right clicking again and selecting copy. then click on the post now button. I am just trying to save you some grief. I have experienced problems of lost postings, and that is what I do now with all the posts that I make. Just so thing do not get lost.

She has a GREAT book out that is only 14 I think. Maybe less. It helped me A LOT!!! Go to the book store and look for a book by Lucinda Bassett. Good Luck. You will get better. Not a matter of if you will but when.
The happiest people don't have the best of everything. They just make the best of everything." Live simply. Love generously. Care deeply. Speak kindly. Leave the rest to God
Go to your nearest public library. Fill out their "request an item" form and specifically request this program, and request Lucinda's book Panic to Power. Public libraries are operated via a budget which is provided by local government. The money they have is from your taxes. The public provides their salary and all their money to run the library. Therefore, they are obligated to obtain the material and book(s) that you want to use. The drawback will be that you have to go to the library to use the program. I doubt they will make it a check-out item. But, that's okay. You only need to listen to the CD's and watch the DVD's up to three days a week. The homework and journaling you can do anytime. Take a notebook to the library and do your homework notes in your notebook. I wish you the best.

Hi all,
Carolyn, thanks for finally getting the StressCenter.com to step in. I still think a community chest or kitty gives us the best opportunity to contribute and provide a means for people that are in Anxiety's position.
Mike, I don't think you will have a problem selling your program. I just don't think there is an easy way to get that done here. You might try Craigs list too. Moreover, I don't think it is fair of you to make any slurs at Carolyn, just thank God that you were in the position to afford getting the program at full price. BTW, did you every finish the program and get better? I did notice that you mentioned that some of the workbooks were marked or filled out. I do hope you were helped by the guidance, instructions and or tools that are meant to teach us how to combat our problems, and are not just giving up because you may have expected a silver bullet that would end any problems you maybe encountering.
I wish all of you well.
Hugs,
Gman5256

Gman,
No slur intended towards Carolyn. I think it is wonderful that she is helping someone get the program. I just wish that I knew about the assistance that seems to be available. As far as affording the program, I am making monthly payments so i wasn't in a position to afford the full price as you mentioned. And to answer you other questions, no I did not finish the program. I am currently on Lexapro and enjoying my life once again. When your life is threatened with hurricanes, and you are told to evacuate or drown, (and you have agoraphobia)cd's and workbooks just didnt cut it for me.
Thanks
