I was wondering how many grams of sugar is considered too much at once when you are dealing with anxiety. There is a lot of sugar in many things if you look at the labels.
Milk has sugar, some fruits have a lot of sugar like banannas and oranges, spaghetti sauce, etc.

I have cut out all caffine, chocolate (that was a hard one) and alwasys have exercised a few days a week so that helps. So I was just wondering about the sugar gram intake per meal or snack.

Thanks!

rumpoint,

First off, I LOVE THE CITIES! Ok now that that is out of the way, who cares? There is sugar in everything! The sugar they talk about in the program is artificial sugar. You sound like a very healthy person and if you take out ALL sugars you wouldnt function. The body needs sugar, point blank. We just need to make sure we keep the right sugars in our lives.

Hi rumpoint-

I'm from The Cities too :)

I keep track of my total carbohydrates, total protein and total fat every day, in order to eat healthy and try to lose some fat and not muscle.

I have an acquaitance who recently was diagnosed with Type II diabetes, and she is to eat no more than 45 grams of carbs per meal. (And the leafy greens and veggies (except corn, carrots and peas) don't count.)

I think having a more "natural" diet as opposed to processed food is awesome for dealing with anxiety. The highs and lows don't fluctuate so hard and the energy level stays higher, longer, without a crash. I have pretty much taken out all wheat-- so that eliminates my carbs for breads and cookies and that type of stuff. I stick to salads, beans, rice tortillas and fruits for my carbs. And I found a FABULOUS chocolate at my local co-op. I go to Lakewinds, but I know they have it at The Wedge, too. It's called Wax Orchards Fudge Sauce or something like that. It's made from pear concentrate and cocoa, so you get the great flavor without the sugar hit. I mix it with a bit of peanut butter and have it on apple slices. And I mix grain-sweetened chocolate chips (just a few) with a small handful of walnuts for a treat too.
