I am so dizzy today and I am scaring myself that I really and truly have something wrong with me. I have my trusty Xanax which takes it away but I don't want to take it. I am so sick and tired of this!!! Anyone else have really bad dizziness/lightheadedness? It really is anxiety, right?

Yes Labourg it really is anxiety. I deal with dizziness and spacey feelings everday, but i do take my xanax because it helps. I don't know where the dizziness comes from or why it is such a big part of anxiety, but lots of people have it. Hang in there, and if you figure out a way to get rid of it, let me know, lol. I'll be praying for you.

Labourg, it is anxiety. The very fact that it goes away with xanax shows you that. Xanax is an antianxiety medicine not one for dizziness or vertigo. By taking the pill you are calming yourself down enough, and the symptoms go away, because you are not thinking about it as much. Hang in there, and try and divert your thoughts.
Good luck

labourg...Here are some of the symptoms of anxiety!!!

• Palpitations, pounding heart, or accelerated heart rate
• Sweating
• Sensations of shortness of breath or smothering
• Feelings of choking
• Chest pain or discomfort
• Nausea or abdominal distress
• Feeling dizzy, unsteady, light-headed, or faint
• Feelings of “unreality” or being detached from oneself
• Fear of losing control or going crazy
• Numbness or tingling sensations

If you have one or more of these body symptoms, chances are they you are suffering from anxiety and panic attacks!!!

I pray this helped to answer your question!!!
Have a great night's rest!!!

Labourg,

Lightheadness/dizziness certainly is a symptom of anxiety. I've had it for years. As the stress is reduced, so does the lightheadness.

Do your relaxation at least twice a day. It helps.

I am dealing with dizziness associated with anxiety also. I am taking Clonazepam which does help some, but I am trying to calm more with this program and other relaxation CD's. Trust me, I know how hard it can be. I have only been to maybe 2-3 stores this summer since I had my worst dizzy attack in June at WalMart. :(

Hang in there.

Dizzy's is both the anxiety AND the xanex believeit or not. The Xanex of course calms you down, so you feel better, but the withdrawal from the Xanax also causes dizziness and in turn, anxiety! I myself am taking Klonopin (Clonazepam) and I know it is a crutch, I am trying to taper. I will keep you in my prayers..it will get better!

I found out something interesting about why I started to feel lightheaded and dizzy in stores. Flourescent lights (like the ones in Wal-Mart and other big stores) have been known to cause some people to feel this way. I find that when I'm any place now with flourescent lights, after a little while, I start to get a headache and then light headed. Once I'm away from it, I start to feel fine again. If I have to go to a store that has those lights, I'm real quick and I kind of squint a bit so it isn't so bright.

You are so right about the lighting! I just discovered this myself. I also have a hard time if there are blinds in a room. Thank you for pointing this out!
