First off I need to let you know where my fear started. I have been feeling really different for the past few days and am really dizzy feeling and all that. Well it is my first menstral cycle in about 18 months due to having a child and an IUD.... but anyways that is throwing me off a lil I think but then today I had my boss take my blood pressure both sitting and standing and it dropped 6 points when I stood up. That is not normal so that scared me. Then we had a staff meeting here at the office and our DR. read some statistics that 9 out of 10 people will die from either heart disease, cancer, or medication. How scary! That is VERY high statistics! I currently don't take any medication for anxiety or anything and never have, but that really scares me because what if I did need to one time for anxiety or something else? I am sorry that I am going on and on but I am having a rough day. I am fearful that I am going to die. Earlier I just had this sensation that I couldn't breathe in and I did the breathing exercise and it helped but now I fear that one time I really won't be able to breathe in! I am proud to say that lately I have been doing pretty well with anxiety but the last 3 days or so have been rough. The feeling as if I am just going to go unconscious is terrifying and the dizzy/spacyness isn't helping much! Any advise is greatly appreciated!

Ethans Mommy,

That statistic would give anyone anxiety, and would definitely put anyone of us here in a panic, which is my guess why no one has replied yet :) It sure made me feel uncomfortable. But maybe it's skewed. It depends who took the poll. Different agencies have different agendas. But, I don't think you should be afraid of the fear that it instills in you. Fear is a useful natural reaction, a reaction to prepare. It's telling your body to prepare. But aside from cutting out smoking and too much drinking, and exercising and eating right...there's not much else we can do. Practice your steps and realize that it's not really important whether that statistic is true or not. What is important is how you react to it. Chose to under-react, listen to the tapes and don't be afraid of your dizzy/spaceyness feelings. I get those during high anxiety/panic episodes too. Learn to welcome those feelings as signals that your body is overworked and needs calm and attention.

I recently read something interesting, that for every moment we spend stressed, we should equal out with a moment spent relaxing. Most of us don't do this though and then wonder why we're anxious. I'm trying to work on this too.

I am sorry I should have thought about the way that it would make others on here feel before I posted this! But we are all strong people and yes we have anxiety but that only makes us stronger! I am sorry if anyone read this post and had a hard time. I on the other hand have been doing a little better. I get regular chiropractic adjustments and am trying to eat healthier and think positively. I need to fit exercise in my schedule but it is hard!

Please don't feel guilty for posting your concerns. That is what this forum is for. I was merely speculating, which might have been wrong on my part anyway.

I'm glad you're feeling better. I'm just getting back into an exercise routine and I'm noticing a difference. I'm sure it will do wonders for you!

This is a very valid concern. I also will feel like that before my menstral cycle. I can really relate to the absense of a period because of childbirth and BC. Mine was gone for about 9 months then came and stayed for 2 and now gone again. Not a fun ride!!! That alone can increase anxiety.Everything you described would make anyone anxious. Always feel welcome to voice your concern or a current worry. Thats why we are all here.

1. Your blood pressure rises and falls regardless if you are sitting still or standing up. It also changes when your are sleeping. It also rises and falls during activities of movement and exposure to stressful or happy situations. Your 6 point change in your blood pressure while you were standing up, is pefectly normal.

2. The statistics you quote are not entirely accurate when you take the worlds population into account (country to country), but it is a true fact that many people will die from heart disease/cancer in western civilian and here are the reasons:

Too much consumption of foods loaded in saturated, trans and hydrogenated fats that raises bad LDL cholesterol levels and reduces good HDL cholesterol levels (high LDL cholesterol levels and low HDL cholesterol levels is what eventually leads to blockage of the hearts arteries that eventually can lead to a heart attack or angina. HDL cholesterol levels is what removes these bad fats from your hearts arteries, keeping them clear and preventing a heart attack from happening.

Its important to eat a healthy diet virtually free from these bad fats and eat a healthy diet with good fats such as poly, mono and fish oil omega 3 - which helps maintain a healthy heart. You should eat at least two portions of fish, high in Omega 3 fats every week. The fish "Mackeral" is a good start, and sold in most supermarket stores.

The problem with most American's and the Western World's diet, is that a high percentage of the population drink too much alcohol, smoke cigarettes, consume foods loaded with bad fats, too much salt and do not eat enough fruit and vegetables (fruit and vegetables help prevent heart disease, cancer and many types of different diseases) and also not getting enough physical exercise.

3. Being over weight and having a high BMI, is also a risk factor for heart disease and diabetes.

These are the reasons why statistics are high from these diseases. it is a disease of modern lifestyle.

On the other hand in "Okinawa" China, people rarely die from heart disease or any type of cancer. Most of the Okinawa people live beyond the age of one-hundred. The secret is they eat a diet loaded with healthy fats, exercise daily (more than ten-thousand walking steps each day) and they drink several cups of "Green Tea" each day.

"Green Tea" is especially important, as it contains very powerful antioxidants which prevent our body cells from getting damaged caused by free radicals. "Green Tea" also prevents heart disease and cancer.

because the rest of the world is dieing from a particular disease, dos'nt mean you will die from the same disease. Please remember that.

A great book on living a long and healthy life, free from disease to read is: "The Okinawa Programme". You'll find in this book twenty-five years of scientific research on how how to live a long and healthy life, free from disease. Its the best book on the subject of disease prevention.

I Hope I have been of help to you and everyone else who reads this post.
