Dear Lilly,
You are not "going crazy"...I have heard of many people who were afraid of taking a shower, for fear something "bad" would happen to them while in the shower!!!

A very good friend of mine, who suffers from panic attacks, would not even take a shower, until her hubby came home from work, and she would always shave her legs in the living room!!!

This is sooooo normal!!! I must say that my friend has overcame these things, and she does not even have the program!!!

You are very safe in that shower!!! The chances of something happening to you in the shower, or while sleeping are around 0%!!!

You are going to be just fine!!! Nothing bad is going to happen to you!!! You need to tell yourself that you are safe, secure, and healthy!!!

Imagine yourself getting into that shower soooo calm, relaxed, peaceful and safe!!! Imagine the shower being a "very relaxing waterfalls" that you are enjoying soooo very much!!!

Same thing with the "Sleep fear"...Imagine yourself going to bed tonight soooo peaceful relaxed, safe, and soooo comfortable!!!

You may want to listen to the "Bedtime Meditation" posting of mine, before retiring each night!!!

I will try and find it, so, I can post it up near the top of this page!!!

Get some long needed rest and a nice warm shower!!!

May God deliver you from all of your fears!!!

BTW: I posted a link to that video...It is called, "When I Close My Eyes To Sleep"

It is in the "Spirituality" section of this forum, if you feel the need to watch it!!!

Aaaw Lilly, I pray that you do begin to feel very safe in your shower, and learn to fall asleep, trusting that you will wake up each morning!!!

You are going to be just fine!!! Remember fear feeds on fear!!! Fear is just "false evidence appearing real"

I pray you get some sleep tonight!!! God bless you Lilly!!!

Hi Lilly, OMG I used to have both of those same fears when I had very very very high anxiety! I started laughing when you told Mrs. T Bones that you are just in and out of there, bcuz Oh man that used to be me! Just continue with your program girl, and listen to all the relaxation CDs that you can, look at beautiful pretty images in books, or the computer, or pictures of you and your family, and tell your self over and over, God is with me, and he will see me through this! I rememeber I would wake up in the morning and be shocked that I woke up, but I would shoot my hand up to the sky before I got out of bed saying Thank You Jesus, for waking me up to start another day! I was just in a whole other place. I still have my days, but I am noticing that the bad days with this disorder are getting far and few, and I never thought I was going to make it. Look to him, and keep on this positive teaching path, and you will be just fine!!! Good Luck!

Thanks Brandi it really means alot to me when people reply and let me know that iam not alone. I have been in the program for two months now and it has helped, but for some reason getting in the shower still scares me. But you have given me good ideas on what to do as same as Ms t Bones and i can assure you i will try them all. Thank you again and good luck to you too. God bless.

Hi Lilly, I just wanted to let you know that I too have dealt with the same thing. I would often wash my hair in the kitchen sink, shave my legs in the bathroom sink, and wash up in the sink too. Anything to not have to get in the shower. I was scared because I got dizzy alot and have heart palpitations and didn't want to be "exposed" if something happened! I have gotten better and I know you will too. I second Ms T's and Brandi's advice. Hang in there, it does get better. ;)

i am the same way to, i thought i was the only one like this. I get lightheaded and sometimes my heart will flutter and i'm scared i'm going to pass out and i dont wont to be found that way. I have to wait untill my husband is home to take a shower and I had to put a chair in the shower because where i get so lightheaded and i shave my legs in the liveingroom and wash my hair bent over the tub. I'm glad to hear i'm not the only one like this to.
