I'm sorry you haven't received any replies on this post. I grew up in Pennsylvania and we had tornado warnings and storm warnings all the time during the summer months. I was terrified every time we had to head for the basement and huddle in one corner until it was over. When I moved to Calif. I experienced my first earthquake three months after I arrived. I was terrified all over again. I finally had to accept the fact that there will always be something from mother nature that I can't control. Tornados, earthquakes, floods, are all beyond my control. All you can do is prepare yourself the best you can, and follow what emergency instructions are outlined for people. Maybe you could ask your doctor for anti anxiety medication that could be taken in emergencies? Otherwise, it may be a good idea to find a therapist who could help you with this type of anxiety.

Hi Tony!!! :)

I'm glad to see you got a reply....I myself don't have any advice on this because where I live we don't get that kind of weather...the thing I'm most afraid of is driving...I hope you get more replies that will help...I was thinking about your post all last night and wished I could help...

Best wishes and hope you get more feedback...

I am terrified of earthquakes. Being that I live in California, I sometimes have to deal with them. Of course, when they happen it's usually not as bad as the anticipation. We had one in the summer and I was actually in class when it happened! It wasn't too big but enough to get a lot of people startled. I was fine. My family members know that I'm scared of earthquakes so they all called me right away and I was like, "I'm actually okay. It wasn't that bad."

Mary is right. Acts of nature are out of our control and a waste of our worrying time. If you have the program I suggest doing Session 3 and Session 8.

I agree with the other two, there is always something and in the end we can't blame the source outside ourselves and expect our circumstances to change, this whole program is about us changing to our circumstances. The best thing you can do is hope and wait for this next one with more of a positive anticipation that you are going to get through this on your own and feel good in the end. As they say "feel the fear and do it anyway". You have to realize that if something is going to happen, it's going to happen so what you need to deal with is the fear and the anticipation more than the circumstance. Work on that fear. Accept it and get through it.
