Hello,
I am in week 5 of the program and I have sort of dropped into a funk. While initially I had some real positive success. Lately I have been feeling a little depressed because I suffered a few sleepless nights (this is my major side effect of anxiety). I have been falling into my old habits of negative thougths and I have not had the energy or the drive to write out the negative thoughts and try to turn to positive.
I am not sure if anyone else has gone through this sort of downcycle in week 5. But I am losing motivation quickly. This program is very cumbersome and when you put the work in and dont see the perfectionist results it takes the steam out of you. Any help or advise
Jyoti
In a Funk
Hello Jyoti
I think many on here can relate to what your saying at one time or another during the program. The program is alot of work but it is so worth it. The life skills you learn are invaluable.
I began to notice as I was working through my anxiety, that I had some underlying depression. As my coach explained to me, it's pretty normal to feel down as we begin to work through our anxiety because we are constantly beating our selves up for everything. Our motivation begins to lag but just keep plugging along.
With our anxiety, we want everything to be the way we want it, when we want it. In some way its instant gratification. We want everything the program has to offer but we want it yesterday.
Try and relax and work through the program as best you can. we will never have all the skills learned in 15 weeks.
Your being to hard on yourself. Give yourself credit for being where you are right now. Lesson 4 on expectations can be a pretty intense lesson.
This week, lesson 5 diet and exercise, is a pretty good one.
I wish you much luck in your recovery. this forum is a great place to come as there are so many wonderful people who can help keep you motivated.
take care and God bless.
