NEED HELP..ANX/DEP VS SEX DRIVE
I am just starting the program and that is enough to worry me because I really do not have the funds to pay for it, but my main worry is more than money. I need to know if anyone has problems with sex drive not effected by meds. I really do now think that my problems with anxiety and depression have killed my sex drive. I used to like it a lot but over the years it has gone down hill to the point that I hate it. If I do not find a solution soon my husband is going to leave. Anyone reading this that has a healthy sex drive, I am pretty sure can understand his problem and why it would be hard for him to stay with me. I just need to know if this is a common problem with people with anx/dep. Has anyone had this happen to them? Has going through this program helped resolve things that have brought it back? Is there any hope? I have tried different meds, gone off everything for long periods of time, tried taking testosterone, etc.. I belong to and internet group that has many, many women with this same problem. Nothing has helped. The only factor I am down to is that everything started going down hill almost 10 years ago when I became apart of the real world. I have always had problems with dep/anx and being obsessive, but as more and more of the stresses of life came down on me, it has gotten bad. Please help, anyone!! I do not know if this program will be able to help me if I cannot keep my mind from going in 500 different directions at the same time. Even if I can tame them, This problem is always here on my mind.
Thanks for listening

Hi Jen,
My name is Gem, i also have COMPLETELY lost my sex drive,
i used to enjoy it and my partner and I NEVER had a problem in that department at all,
now i never want it and its driving him crazy i'm sure, and i'm worried that he's gonna start looking elswhere for something that he's not getting at home!!!
I've tried all sorts of pills and potions(all herbal) to try and get my sex drive back and NOTHING has worked!!
Its pissing me off and im sure it doing the same to my partner - he asked me the other day if it was becuase i wasn't attracted to him anymore and if i did'nt love him - which it sooo isn't.
I dont know what to do anymore!!!
If you read one of my previous posts by 'Gem' called 'DEATH' ive explained my loss of sex drive in that also.
I you or anyone has any ideas that have or known to have worked - then PLEASE let me know!!!
Thanks

Hello ladies!!
It's normal to lose some of your drive when you are struggling with anxiety and depression.
jmw874,
Have you considered trying a product called Vigel? This may help you.
You might want to ask yourself what you are saying to yourself about sex and about YOU.
I believe that when you figure out what you've been telling yourself, you'll have a better idea as to why your sex drive has decreased.
There are things you can do for yourself that can increase your sex drive and most of this comes from feeling good about yourself and talking to yourself in a loving, accepting, forgiving way.
I was just listening to the news the other day on this subject and they said many women lose their sex drive and don't "feel" like having sex and therefore don't due to stress. The doctor on the show encouraged women to have sex anyways and then the feelings will come eventually.
Most of it has to do with what you are putting into your head. Treat this problem and then you will treat your sexual problem as well.
LAUGHTER is the BEST medicine!! Plan something fun for you and your husband and plan to be SILLY !! You'd be amazed at how much fun you'd have if you just LET YOURSELF.

Hi JM,
I believe that one of the symtons of anxiety and depression is low sex drive. I too: have NO sex drive at all and it is so frustrating to me. My husband is about ready to look else where. I refuse to take medication for this problem because that doesn't help the sex drive either .I'm hoping by going through this program and learning to love myself more and by building a healthy positive attitude,my sexual desires will return. Just hope my husband can hang on.Hang in there JM. Work the program. I'm sure it will help you too.
Thanks Debra

Antidepressants kill your sex drive!! I had a healthy sex drive all my life since my teens to about 29 when I took antidepressants (and ironically, it was 1 1 /2 years on Wellbutrin that is not supposed to do this that killed it!). Indidentally, after quitting Zoloft adn wellbutrin I had panic attacks for the first time in my life while driving!
Anyway, what worked for me was Chinese medicine. They are open to this sort of thing and won't think yo uare crazy. Plus they can treat your anxiety.
ANother thing that worked was a supplement called Arginmax for Women. It has 100% RDA of most vitamins, iron, Zinc, L-Arginine 2500 mg (amino acide tha increases peripheral circulation - used in diabetic foot creams), Korean Ginseng (100 mg), Gingko Biloba (50 mg) and Damiana leaf 50 mg (the last one traditional for lack of sex drive). Everything is in sensible quantities, nothing crazy there, except the iron caused stomach irritation. You could easily put together your own by buying a multivitamin and the above herbs/aminos from GNC or other reputable nutrition store. Damiana leaf you can find in herb stores or co-ops. Iron is the only thing i would be careful with as it causes stomach irritation in some people and people of Irish descent may have hematochromosis (hm, does that strike only men...can't remember).
Yeah, the program may help too.

Jen, I too have absolutely lost my sex drive my husband is very understanding about all my anxiety/depression issues, but this no sex is really getting to him.
I feel so guilty, I feel so bad . Ive tried a few natural sex desire inhancers (I dont remember what they were) they didnt help at all.
I find I also that because of the lack of sex drive any closeness causes anxiety.
Im doing alot better since being on the program(Im on 10) but it hasnt improved my sex drive at all.

Thanks all of you for your responses. I am not sure what my problem is. I am not on any medication, and haven't been for awhile. I do want to note on what that Dr. said on that show. I tried doing that and now mine has gotten so bad that it is not just not wanting to anymore. It is a pure hatred. Any sexual encounter makes me feel violated, like I am being raped. I do not know what went so terribly wrong that I have gotten to this point. I was just hoping that maybe this was a common problem brought on by the stress/anxiety/and depression. I am hoping that getting through this program would help me get that part of my life back. If they could add sex therapy as a session for this program, it would be wonderful
Thanks Again,
Jen

Jen,
I know exactly how you feel. One year ago I was exactly where you are now. Once I got through the program I began to understand that it does affect EVERY part of your life. My saving grace was that I had a husband who supported me and understood what I was going through. No it didn't help him, But he knew it was not intentional.
Now for the big suprise here. My sex drive came back full force once I got on Paxil CR. I suppose because it is time released and not an instant working med, it seemed to help with my sex drive. Now I am NOT suggesting to get on medication here
I am just telling you my story.
Hang in there ladies. If a man is going to leave you because of lack of sex...then he was not much of a true man to begin with. As long as the emotional support is there for him, and you reassure him that it isn't anything personal against him, it may help your relationship to where you will feel better about yourself and your sex drive may come back.
I really don't have much advice here. Just needed to let you know , I once was in the same situation myself.
Peace and Love
Marie

Jen,
I have struggled with lack of sex drive also. It is crazy because I WANT to be interested so bad...but I just am not. (In fact the thought of it makes me sick most of the time.)
I am interested in knowing what internet group you are in where the women have this same problem....I would be good to talk to others that are dealing with this issue.
