Hello,

Im on week two of the program and I'm really enjoying it. I suffer with both anxiety and depression. I'm really having trouble losing weight.. I watch my calories and exercise three times a week and can't lose a pound. I have heard that stress and anxiety makes you "hold" weight or makes it harder to lose? Has anyone heard that?

I also took medication for 15 years and wondered if it has totally messed up my body's metabolism?]

Thanks

I haven't heard that, but I am with you as far as losing weight! When I first started having alot of panic attacks, and the body symptoms got really bad, I could not eat a thing. I think I had lost 13 pounds in 2wks. Then I started going to talk therapy, and a psychiatrist, and finally got on an antideppressant, and I slowly started to get better. As I got to feeling better, my appetite feels like it had not only come back but come back full force! I have gained the 13 pounds back, plus 20! I didn't like feeling like I did when I used to have high anxiety, but the lose of appetite could have stayed! That probably sounds sad, but I could really afford to have lost more than 13 pounds! I even had started exercising 4-6 times a week, for 2 monthes straight, and didn't see a whole heck of lot of an improvement! So I got discouraged, and went back to my old habits of off and on exercising, and eating almost everything in sight! It doesn't help being laid off too, talk about being bored, and feeding your bordem! What's soo scary and sad is I'm getting married nxt June, and I already got my dress back in Apr., it fit so well then, but now my mom can barely zip it! If I gain any more weight it is going to be a horrible thing! So I'm trying to get back into exercising, but my appetite remains very heavy, and it makes losing weight sooo hard! Sorry so long, I too am struggling with the pounds! Good luck to you!

heey...I've had trouble losing weight in the past. When I started the program back in February I decided to join Weight Watchers also. I lost 20 pounds on weight watchers! It was hard for the first week, but then you get the hang of it and realize that you can eat a lot. It really worked for me. I also walked almost every day. I started out slow at first and short distant, and worked my way up. I would bring the program cds with me and it was really fun for me. I would go to a nice park that was scenic too, very relaxing and invigorating. I hope this helps.

Thanks Brandi... where are you from? I remember getting married three years ago. That is a HUGE stress in itself. If the Panic and Anxiety weren't enough, you have a wedding to plan. Try not to worry, it will all work out. The dress will be fine. What week of the program are you on?

Thanks Carla.. That does sound really great. I have been battling fatigue and haven't felt much llike working out or exercising but I think I will force myself for a quiet walk. :)

I'd go for the Weight Watchers suggestion, just to get a handle on portion control, etc. And use natural food like fruit and veggies and whole grain stuff. Things that are processed and sold in a box are not that great for you, have a lot of calories, and don't fill you up so great.

Good luck with this.

Exercise also is Awesome. It's helps with the weight and helps with the anxiety. For me it's now more about the mental release than the physical. I would like to be thinner, but am much more realistic about body types now. I am 45 and have had 4 kids and have a German heritage. I am NOT a supermodel looking type at all. But, I am good and getting better all the time.

I just started Weight Watchers a few days ago, and it's going good.

How long did it take for you to start seeing the weight loss?

I know it's gonna be different for everyone, but I'm just curious.

DeeDee,

The first week of weight watchers was the hardest, just trying to figure it all out! But in the first week I lost 1 and a half pounds. The second week I lost almost 4 lbs, that week. And after that I continusously lost a pound and a half a week. Everyone is different though. Your right, it realyl did give me a better idea of portion control and healthy foods. Tracking the food really helped me out a lot, I think that really helped me lose the weight. Some of the people at the meetings wouldn't track and they wondered why they couldn't lose any weight. At least at first it's good to track, until you get the hang of it. But everyone's different. I wish you luck with it!
