Hi everyone!!! :)

How do I know when it's time for me to go out and face some of my fears???...It's been a year since I've drove or even gone anywhere...I can now go outside but still can't get myself to do anything else...do I ease myself into it or just jump right in???...I feel as if I will never get myself to do these...I've missed out on soooo much this last year with my kids and boyfriend...I just want to be able to go out and do the things I use to...I would love to hear some suggestions and advice...

Thanks, Little~Italy

I think that if you're thinking about starting to work on your limitations, then it's time. Don't feel the need to jump in- it might be easier to do baby steps. For example your fear of driving: maybe start just with sitting in the car driver seat, then the next step would be starting the car but still not going anywhere, then try driving around the block, etc. Hope this helps. Good luck, you can do it!

Anytime is a good time! You are going to feel fear no matter when you begin, yes, you do need to push yourself. There is a right way to expose, however. Altho, some say it's OK to jump right in. It would be nice to have a support person to turn to once a week or once a month while you are exposing.

Writing up a hierarchy is a really helpful tool. You start with the #1 and move on up at your own speed to #10. Dr. Howard Liebgold explains the hierarchy completely in Freedom from Fear.

Embrace every step you take. Soothe yourself at every turn. Give yourself the encouragement you need to persevere. Really love the process, and make it OK.
