Hello all! I have been having some vision issues ever sense my anxiety started up, and I was wondering if anyone else can relate? Sometimes when I am staring at straight lines (like a corner where 2 white walls come together) or a door frame...it appears to be shaking a little or vibrating, almost like jello shakes, thats the only way I know how to explain it. It is really only vertical lines that appear to be "shaky" does anyone else experience this? I went to my eye doctor and she said that nothing was wrong with my eyes. So im just really confused, its kind of frustrating!

Hi Mallory:
I would suggest getting a second opinion.
I really would. And be sure to go to a good Ophlamoogest, not just a optometrist. (Please excuse my spelling - I don't want to look up words right now).
I sure wouldn't want to scare you but on the other hand it isn't fair not to tell you that this
could be a symptom of a real physical indication.
In October of '06 , I notices that what should be straight vertical lines were very crooked.
Such as phone pole or electrical pole along the streets and hiways. And I noticed that my wands on the window blinds were crooked. I thought how could that be. So I'd go outside and look at trees and things. All straight lines were distorted.
So I went to eye doctor. Othomologist. The first visit he kind of ignored me and although his assistants did look thru' lights behind my eyes , etc. They missed the obvious.
But in a few weeks I was seeing other pronouced distortions. I went back.
Right away they saw. I had wet macula degeneration.
Now I don't know if a shaking of the straght lines is a symptom. But I wonder if something isn't going on back there.
Please do not be afraid. But I'd just go to a good ophlamologist and get this checked.
It pays to be safe when dealing with the eyes.

I wish the very best and hope it is nothing.
But I did feel I should share this with you.

I went to one eye doctor...and she said nothing was wrong with my eyes that is was probably an ocular migraine. She said that a lot of people just get the visual symptoms of a migraine and not the head ache. So, the problem kept persisting and I decided I wanted to go to a wonderful eye doctor that my sister went to (she had sudo tumor) and let her give it a look for a second opinion. She dialated my eyes and did all kinds of things...and she found nothing. She sent me to have an MRI just to be sure..so I had an MRI and it came back clear, everything was perfect. So...I feel kind of crazy going from doctor to doctor and getting the same result. Im sure if something had been wrong in my eye that second doctor would have noticed it, she is a very prominent eye doctor here where I live. She is the only one who found my sister had a sudo tumor after many other doctors didnt notice. Also, the shaky vision isnt all the time..its only sometimes. Just randomly. I have read up on it and a lot of others have this, and it could be something as simple as an inner ear problem. It still worried me though! And the anxiety makes it worse bc my biggest fear is going crazy, So I get scared that I will start seeing things that arent there. Ugh.

Oh. Well, I am pleased that you have had this checked out.
Good.
I am losing a lot of my vision. Have given up driving.
I am so glad for you that you have nothing wrong.
That is a blessing.
Just hang in there.

Thank you for responding though, I know vision problems an be so upsetting sometimes. I am glad the second doctor was able to catch yours though! I just hope this is something I can chalk up to anxiety.

Hi again!
Losing one's eyesight takes a lot of acceptance.
I had shots into left eye for quite awhile. As long as it was bleeding back there. They used Avastin to dry it up. I am losing the sight in my right eye due to dry macula and something called geographic atrophy.
I can still read on this computer. But is a bit more difficult.
Reading books is another story. I can read the large print Reader's Digest but with difficulty.
Can't read long at a time.
This is real.
It doens't have much to do with the anxiety.
And that is why that I can accept it.

One's life changes somewhat. But life goes on.
I am so happy for you that your eyes are okay.
And I'm sure you aren't going crazy.
You will be okay. Just takes some time.
You seem like a very intelligent young woman.
Be patient with yourself.

Thank you for responding. I know that a lot of people who suffer with anxiety have the overwhelming fear of going crazy, but most who worry about it actually never do. So that is very comforting. I am sorry to hear about your vision, it is good though that you are still able to read and also get on the computer. But I really truly believe that everything happens for a reason, and God can use any situation for good no matter how terrible it seems.
