Hello all,
I'm a new member and want this to work so badly. I've had panic attacks/depression about 80% to 90% of the day for the last 2 or 3 weeks. This program came in day before yesterday and I'm being faithful in doing what it says with the exception of journaling because with A & D 80 to 90% of the day that's all I would do. I write down the major ones but don't know what causes them. Two things: As long as I do everything it says (like listen to Session 1 three times) do I have to spend a week on each Session or can I move along at my own pace? Second: any words of encouragement that I'll make it and can hang on to will be most helpful.
Thank you,
Deborah

Welcome to StressCenter.com and a program that has fine potential. I came from another site and do not have the program, but you might want to read Life Coach Very Helpful, by ahandschke, Sept. 28 and perhaps she can answer your question properly.
We try to be supportive as much as possible. Wish you the best with rewarding progress to look forward to.

Fenndeb, welcome.
Do not try and change things over night. Took lots of time to get to where you or we are. Lets slow the train down before attemping to turn it around. Is there anything in particular that really feeds the anxious? Are you eating healthy? I have many questions, no need to answer here if uncomfortable. It is things you need to find peace with though.
Thanks for asking and reaching out. Tina hands you some very good info food for the thinker.
Are you able to relax?

R,
No problem answering your questions. Yes, I eat healthy. I am a larengectomy patient with cancer and get 90% of my nutrition through a feeding tube in my stomach (PEG tube). I'm sure you've heard of Ensure Plus. Anyway, that and other liquid supplements give me good nutrition - not very exciting though, huh?
The "next" anxiety attack is what I'm "afraid" of. They come quite often as mentioned. Plus, I've been going through the stress of this cancer for 3 years (numerous surgeries, radiation, chemo, etc.), going through weekly chemo for months which has just turned into bi-weekly to give my body a break. Stress also from talking with the hand-held device called a Servox (of course people stare when I talk but in I'm getting used to it). Not easy to understand me so it limits my conversation with people... The numerous surgeries did a job on my neck so that I can barely turn my head from side to side and it pulls down to my chest making it almost impossible to drive (I really shouldn't but I have to get out of the house sometimes!) This condition makes it hurt constantly. Awww - yes, lots of stress in my life.
Relax? Yes, the relaxation CD helps. Sometimes for a short while, sometimes for a longer period. Breathing method is helping somewhat - getting used to it. Telling myself "it's only anxiety" sometimes helps too. Walking on my treadmill, putzing around in the garden... things mentioned on the CDs.
I'm ready to put this behind be and get on with life again. It came on so sudden it took me by complete surprise.

Tina,
Thank you for that info - I had actually already read it and it's very inspiring and encouraging. I see you post often. Thank you for your support.
Off the subject, if you don't mind, I wanted to respond to your message and the only way I found to do it was to hit the "Quote" key. Your message didn't have the "Reply" key below it. How can I respond to a message the correct way, or should I call Support? (I'm a larengectomy patient and it's very hard to understand me, especially on the phone).
Thanks,
Deborah

Hi Deborah,
Thank you for your comment. Could post all day esp. if I had a cook, cleaner, laundress, errand runner, organizer, etc. on staff (joking). I also devote much time and effort to exercise and meditation.
You are asking a tech question of a tech dummy. You can always post on any thread where I have posted and I'll see it sooner or later. To subscribe to a thread click Subscribe Topic in the blue line at the bottom of the screen. I think this should work.
PS. Just saw your earlier post today. Good Lord, how very brave you are with all you've had to endure. So very sorry for your pain and suffering. But what courage you have. We salute you and want to support you any way we can.

Re: New member
Hello: I'm a new member also and have a hard time staying consistent with the tapes and workbook - I seem to jump around looking for a quick fix. I have some recent health issues and am obsessing about that and worrying about continuing to work and support myself. Concentration is hard as anxious and depressive thoughts creep in and take over. I think I'm going to try to set aside a time each day that I focus on the materials. I exercise on the treadmill for 30 minutes a day and I listen to the tapes, but I also need time to do the workbook - working 1 1/2 jobs and finding it hard to take the time. I also want this to work, but we have to put in the time. Take as long as you need for each session - that's what I'm going to do. This is not a race and we will only be winners if we put in the time. I'm here for you and I care for others that struggle daily. It's nice to know that I'm not alone - just want to feel "normal" again.

HI, TFM. You might want to read the recent All that Workbook Homework thread for some other input that might be helpful to you. Time is always at a premium, to be sure, but with planning and concentration it can be managed. Best to you.
