Life Coach very helpful!

Post by ahandschke » Wed Sep 28, 2011 2:40 pm

I am on session three and am having better days. I do have intermittent anxiety but seem to be getting through it faster buy allowing myself to feel anxious and knowing it will pass as well as speaking to myself in a rational and non-catastrophic way. Today I recieved a call from a life coach who was extremely helpful in specifically adressing some of my negative self talk. She helped me identify that my worring over my health and dying really isn't about health and dying- it is about me feeling like I am not strong or couragous enough to make it through something bad. No having self confidence. I myself knew I had some negative self-talk but when asked today what some of my qualities are, I had nothing to say, only tears-pretty sad. She asked me to write down 4 qualities she felt I had on note cards and back them up with evidence. I did find evidence. There have been many acoomplishments I have made. I will be doing this for 21 days to implant the good stuff in my neurological pathways. I feel good today. Just very brief bouts of anxiety from 90% of the day to about 10%. I am very excited and feel far more confident I will recover. I have signed up for the life couch for 16 weeks. She was very knowledgable and today is better! I really felt like she listened and gave me REALLY good feedback! Cheers to all for being so brave(very important quality we all have)!

Thank you so much for sharing your experience. This is the kind of encouragement everyone needs. Others have also posted of such results and then the posts get buried.

Will try and make a note of yours. Hope it's OK with you to bump it up now and then to invite others to read it. Wish you much continued success.

Yes, I agree. I notice a lot of posts on difficult times. I think the people who are doing well don't come on as much but we need to hear thier stories too! I find a lot of hope in hearing about other people who are recovering. It's all about positive self talk. I am trying so hard to turn my negative thoughts into positive ones. It's hard, but its working. Another thing I am finding is that I need to not continue to talk about the things that worry me with people I dump on regularly about my worries- like my mom. I find that it is just another way to stay focused on the negative. It seems to be the same as negative self-talk. Today is another good day. Very small anxiety attack early am but turned it around in just a few minute saying 'there is nothing to be fearful of- it's just anxiety and it will go away'.

Again, your post is so good. What I think happens is people feel better and get on with their lives. They return when things fall apart. Sort of like the weight issue. People rarely report their long standing success.

I like your mention of "neurological pathways." Yes, it is almost a restructuring of thinking in the brain. If the negative wants to come out, writing can be ok. Then tear the page up and throw it away. It's what I sometimes do. Also like your self-talk to anxiety. Tell it to, "Get lost. You have no power over me." Hope it's a good day for you and everyone.

I am so happy to say I am doing fantastic! I have had some of the best days of my life these last two days! I am really enjoying the simple things in life. I used to really enjoy cooking but really because of self esteem issues lost my desire. Last night, a week night, I got home and said I am going to pull what I have for food and create something special. I made a mediterrainian dish that was really good and I had a great time on a week night that typically would have been filled with dread. I had so much fun with my family who have been here the whole time for me to enjoy! I think I finally gained the confidence that this is working! And those positive neurological pathways are forming after a lot of journally and doing the work for three weeks! Like they talk about in the CDs it is anxiety producing to face this and ver scary but I am pulling through and have couple times gotten teary eyed about my progress. I will keep posting to encourage people to do the work and stick with it!!!

Yes, you are wonderful. Nice going. We can get emotional when we regain that confidence and sense of control. Will it always be smooth sailing? It can be as long as we are vigilant in the pursuit of what it is we are trying to overcome.

Cooking can be creative. Exercise seems creative to me. Hobby writing or even posting can be creative. We need to find ways to be creative. There is too much automation in our life so anything creative is very welcome.

I have been thinking about possibly calling to talk to a Life Coach and after reading your positive experience here I think I am going to. It is so nice to read some positive posts from people and I think helps to give everyone hope and encouragement.

yes! great to here positive coments ! life coachs are great. i had one in the past and it really helped. i read a book called fearless living by rhonda brittin . this used to be a reality show and it was really helpful. this book gives you websites to get a life coach . you can even talk to the life coachs and pick the one you relate to the most. it can be kinda expensive if you are on a budget but i found a coach that was willing to work with me on cost.these are certified life coachs. they will go threw the book with you and talk with you about almost enything. it was the only way i could get threw a very fearful time in my life. i have been diagnosed with severe depression and anxiety and i have resently been diagnosed as bipolar. i can talk to my friends somewhat but they dont know how this feels and they cant really relate. my husband is wonderful about listening but he is not very positive and encouraging.i dont blame him totally becouse i know he is using guided optimism becouse we have been disappointed so many times. with the mood swings being a real problem he never knows who he is going to wake up to .i am mostly very happy and energetic but somtimes i go into a real bad depression and i cant function. the depressive episode can last 3 hours or 5 days you never know.if you suffer from these conditions you have to have a outlet to get better and preferably a positive one. i am just starting the program for the second time and this is the first time i have used this peer support. seems like it is going to be very helpful.

I have been a life coach with StressCenter.com for 13 years now. I have helped many, many individuals over the years gain control over their thought process in just 15 weeks with just a phone call a week. It truly is amazing. I am still amazed that I am where I am in my life because of the Attacking Anxiety Program and the coaching I received. I have come from being housebound to unbelievable freedom... public speaking, traveling, eating comfortably in restaurants, being alone, sleeping well EVERY night - even through crisis! I would highly recommend the coaching program to anyone. It is an investment in yourself that will continue to pay dividends for years to come. If you have any questions please call me at 419-408-4590 and leave a message.

Just in case someone is wondering if Tammy really is a life coach for Stress Center I can verify that she is and is very good at what she does. I'd recommend Tammy to everyone and I've known "BakedPears" (where she came up with that id I'll never know..lol) for close to 6 years now. Nice to see you "on the forum" for once! :D
