Hello,

Here is part of an article written by Dr. Richard N. Fogoros, M.D. related to what you are talking about:

"Emotional stress is generally the kind of stress people are talking about when they refer to stress causing heart disease. “It’s no wonder she died,” you’ll hear people say, “with all the mess he put her through.” But is it true? Did Ed really kill Elsie with all his gambling and drinking and staying out all hours of the night?

Everyone – even doctors – have the notion that emotional stress, if it is severe enough or chronic enough, is bad for you. Most even believe that this kind of stress can cause heart disease. But scientific evidence that it actually does so has been hard to come by."

Take care and try not to worry!

When I worry about things, sometimes just taking a step back and then looking at the numbers is all it takes to calm me down. Think about it: if constant worrying was enough to kill you, everyone on this site would be dead by now! And people have been posting on this site for years, in addition many have had anxiety for many years prior to even joining the site.

I would suspect that the woman you saw the program about already had some heart defect or was otherwise predisposed to hearty trouble. She's is just one of those random cases that makes a good news story. But she doesn't represent the general public at all - and this means you too!

I totally agree with Searunner. I've had panic disorder, stress and anxiety for over 30 years and I'm still here. What Searunner said is true, she probably had an underlying condition. Most of us here and on other anxiety sites have been battling stress for years and years. Take care! Don't worry!

For me, I need to be careful about what I watch on TV, or read or listen to on the radio. If I listen to too much negative stuff, it can really take it's toll. Make it a point to surround yourself with positive things and positive people. Life's too short for the negative stuff.
