Okay so this is the third time im typing this..stupid computer;

Anyway I have been having really bad episodes of obsessive scary thoughts lately.

1. What if i lose control and never calm down from an panic attack and my xanax doesnt work for me anymore and I die

2. What I my heart beats so fast I cant control it and it beats too fast and it stops

3. what If I lose all control of myself that I my panic attack never stops

4. What if I make my heart beat so fast I die(this is a big fear of mine)

The reason why I freak out so bad about my heart was because when I was 19 I took as lot of diet pills then no dos(which is caffine) then I smoked wayy to much you know......and my friend had to call 911 because I was freaking out so bad..the emt came and told me if I didnt calm down my heart was going to explode. Then they took me away in an ambulance drugged me up like crazy. That started my fear of also ambulances..

Ever since that day I have this underlying fear that I am going to die of my heart racing
I know this is exactly where my anxiety and panic attacks stem from...I just cant seem to get a grip on it..Im still so scared I am going to lose control like that again and DIe. Because the last big panic attack I had I was at work(not on diet pills or u know this time lol) and they once again called the ambulance and my heart was INSANELY fast..and I kept saying im going to die..bc once again(thats what the emt told me before) well they drugged me up and sent me home after like 5 hours of tests...

I just cant seem to shake this

I really need your help please.. :-*(

I'm so sorry that you're having such a bad time. Review your tapes/CD's sessions 2 & 3 for sure. I am just starting session 4 so I don't know about the rest. Remember to BREATHE, listen to your relaxation CD or other calming music. This is just anxiety, it will pass if you talk and breathe your way through it. Visit the chat room when you can and if you need to, schedule an appointment with your doctor to discuss your concerns.
Hoping you feel better soon,

DMP-it is just anxiety-did you get StressCenter program? You need to learn to control it and breathing exercises that will calm you-in program theres a relaxation CD. You said you have been to Emergency twice-second time they took tests-did they find anything? I am sure they did not. When you feel like your starting to panic or have anxiety you need to breathe thru your nose saying one one thousand, two one thousand then exhale out of your mouth saying one one thousand, two one thousand, three one thousand, four one thousand. This will help you to relax and slow your heartbeat. You are going to be okay, just go thru and know you are not going to die that it is just a panic attack and it will pass. Hope this helps.

Sounds like you are in the midst of obsessive scary thoughts. Remember you are the one that is making your heart beat faster, therefore, you are the one that can slow it down. Your heart will not explode, I am sure the EMT that said that was exagerating and talking comparatively and not reality. If your still not sure make an appoinment with your Doctor and have an EKG test on your heart to eliminate any physical problems.

I would suggest the next time you notice your heart beating faster start using the 6 steps to stop a panic attack, most importantly accept the fact that your are nervous and your heart is beating faster. It is a perfectly normal reaction to anxiety and the adreneline your body is releasing. Observe your thoughts and feelings, float with the scary thoughts. You have to trust that you will not die and the panic will eventually go away, only leaving you exhausted, but otherwise physically healthy. I would also suggest that as you notice your heart beating faster, demand that it beat even faster. Yell at your heart to beat as fast as it can, demand that it give you it's best shot. I know this is scary and will take several tries, but what you will eventually notice is that once you take control and demand your heart beat faster, it can't, and the fear that was causing it to beat fast in the first place will disappear.

Believe me I know how real the scary obsessive thoughts seem at the time, you have to trust that they are only thoughts that you yourself are creating. You are the one that is scaring yourself it is not the situation that is scaring you, it is not the fact that your heart is beating faster that is scaring you, it is the thoughts that you are creating regarding these physical symptoms.

Hi DMP,

I am so sorry that you're going through this. You say that you have been to the doctor and or hospital a gazzillion times, and had all kinds of test done and they found nothing.

Stop and think what this means. It is panic and anxiety. Right? You can handle it! Say to yourself that it is a panic attack. BTW, have your rated your attacks when you get them?

Have you said to yourself, I am healthy, and there is nothing wrong with me, it is a panic attack; I can overcome.

Do your breathing exercises, breath slow and deep, and keep doing it until you are able to bring it under control.

Look in the mirror and see the beautiful person that is a conquerer of all things because she is able to do all things through the power of God. That beautiful person: DMP720 is beautiful, Smart, and fearless because God loves her, and she needs to love herself enough to want to live free of the grip of fear. Reverse the fear of panic and replace it with a strong look in the mirror and try this:

Clap rythmically, and repeat: I feel great, I feel great, I am great, I am great, I love me, I love me, and keep repeating this as you breath in a controlled manner and as you expend the nervous energy into this simple exercise, and don't stop until you feel it and see that it will help you replace that fear energy, with a rythmic positive self talk and then have a good laugh as you realize you are in control, and you have nothing to fear.

Don't laugh at me and think me silly, try it and keep doing it whenever you feel that fear is rearing its ugly head and turn it on its head!

We love you!

Are you on a Beta Blocker? I am and it helps slow my heart down.
