Where do you feel your stress?
I know everyone's different when it comes to stress. I feel my stress in my jaw and my forearms. Very strange about the forearms. They just feel soooo tight. I remember going through a depression when I was in my 20's and I was always complaining that my forearms hurt. I think it's from sleeping all wrapped up and tense. And my jaw and face get all tight. And I hate that since it is so evident when I look in the mirror. Guess I just wanted to hear what other people's bodily stress points are. Feeling kind of down today and just want to enjoy Summer and here I am stressed and tired. Ugh!
I tend to feel a lot of tension in my jaw and throat. I have TMJ on the left side from a root canal years ago, (never been officially diagnosed, but its the only thing left that explains it). I also seem to have this habit of creating pressure in my mouth. Not clenching so much as sort of like, when your mouth is closed, and you suck back on your teeth type of thing. The tongue gets pushed to the roof of the mouth, and the throat gets tense. That sort of thing. From there, my tongue will get sore, either like I've been chewing on the left side (I haven't), or it will feel sprained. Sometimes my teeth on the left will hurt (went to dentist the first time it happened, nothing wrong). From there, it will spread to my chest feeling tight, or having a burning sensation. Sometimes it will cause a flutter feeling. The thing is, most times I don't even realize I'm doing it. Only when I feel the chest burn or get a flutter do I realize it and have to consciously relax my mouth. This is probably caused by anxiety, but then it causes more anxiety too.
