alright, so Ive got a neat little exercise for you to do, its gonna require a little math, so I want you to consider how often your buying cigarettes, for me I buy 4 cartons in a month, now considering there are 20 ciggs in a pack, 10 packs in a carton, thats 200 ciggarettes in a carton, now personally that means I smoke roughly 800 ciggerettes a month, pretty scary huh, why dont you figure out the math and see where your at, its a real eye opener

My friend, do what you can to quit Now!
Smoking Will kill you someday if you do not quit! So many smokers feel "Oh, it won't happen to me!" Then later on (sometimes before they know it) there it is....the Big "C"!! C a n c e r ! I watched my friend as he approached death from small cell lung cancer from smoking 2 - 3 packs per day for 20 years. He was 58.
He was diagnosed in March of 2006.....went on chemotherapy right away, and radiation treatment.
They didn't work. They Never work. They just fix a small part while the rest of the body fails. My friend was gone on December 6th the same year. He left a wife and three daughters. It was sad. Don't think it won't happen to you. Live! Enjoy your ability to say No! to a habit that you Can Defeat!
Live longer. Quit the smoking. Breath better and smell better. Taste your food again! Save money!! You Can quit! Don't Ever say you can't! Try it....Quit! Maybe every time you get an urge to light up you should take an old cigarette that you smoked earlier, and take a big whiff of the stink of the ashes, and say..."Whoa! is that what I smell like?" Then look at the ashes, and say.... "Whoa! is that what the inside of my lungs look like?" There is no "I'm trying to quit." There is .... I Will quit after working hard at it for a Short period of time because I Know I Can Do It!!!!
People who say they can't quit because it's too hard truly don't want to quit! The saddest reality of that is that the person really has a Death Wish, and knows that the smoking will do it! I miss my friend a lot. Smoking Killed him! He didn't want to quit. As he was dying we found that to be the truth because even after they started the chemotherapy, he smoked 4 - 5 cigarettes per day!! Sad....so sad when someone wants that to happen.
There Are professional treatments that Do work!!! Smokers....get to one of them Now!
Then maybe some day you will not have to suffer a slow and painful "smokers death".
I have said all this in order to try to help those who smoke. Stop the excuses. Quit!!
Peace be with you.

Yikes! That sounds like a very expensive habit! I'm glad I never started smoking. Good luck :-)

Thank you for your concern, and Yes, I am trying to quit, I just havn't done it yet, Ive tried the gums, patches, cold turkey, I just havn't found what I need to help me quit yet, but none the less I am trying to watch how much I smoke and cut it down a little at a time until I can quit, the point of this exercise was for people to do the math for themselves and see the big number, alot of people only smoke like 10 cigarettes a day and dont think its that bad, this exercise was showing that ya, 10 is better than 20, but still the fact remains that even at 10 a day thats still alot of smoking, when I figured this out tonight it really opened my eyes and I think that it will help me to continue my quest to quit, Im not going to tell people to quit or cut down, they need to decide for themselves, and I must say that people who dont smoke really have no idea what kind of addiction there is with it so I dont expect them to understand, so, anyway, there we go, and thank you for your response

I definitely don't feel what you feel in terms of the addiction to nicotine, but I guess I am addicted to negative thinking and obsessive thoguhts. I wonder if some type of frightening close up look at lung cancer would help? Probably be about as useful as yelling boo at someone with hiccups. I work in pathology, though, and those lungs can look pretty fierce. Have you ever seen one?

I hear you and yes, i do understand. dealing with an addiction as well as the axiety is very hard. like losing a friend, or your fel good source. i can tell you as a smoker, still trying to quite, that the less i smoke, the better my axiety gets. there is a DEFINATE correlation to stress and smoking. keep trying little, by lttle and you'll see how much better you'll feel. hang in there and I'll fight the fight with you
