Hi Jp-

I was just reading through session 3 today and there was a section where you are reprogramming negative thoughts. One of the comments was "I'm not going to let that comment (or what they said to me) effect me."

I have had off days where people make a comment and then it seems like I obsess over it enough to make it come true (did that make sense?). I feel like I'm starting to learn that it doesn't matter what others think of me, it's what I think of me. And - that's enough to work with for now.

You can look at it one of 2 ways - either these people were concerned friends, or they were pushing your buttons. If they are friends, you can let them know you are working on getting better. If they just want a rise out of you, let it go and push it out of your mind.

I hope you continue to find success on this journey. We are here for support if you need it - as always. Good luck to you. -J

maybe they are just concerned...i could see how that would be very annoying when you're trying to deal with anxiety. i don't like people asking me how i feel, because i always have to lie when i'm feeling terrible, and say oh yeah im fine. try to answer them politely and forget about the comment, you're trying your best.

Sometimes when we feel bad or tired it shows on our faces and in our body language. I don't think those people we trying to insult you, I think they were concerned about you, the way we are with our friends. Don't take those things personal, people care about you. When I'm having a bad day my mother and my boyfriend always asked me if i'm okay. I know that they are only concerned about me. Sometimes even my neighbors asks me the question. If I'm feeling well I will say I'm fine, thanks for asking. If i'm not feeling well I'll just say I'm not feeling too good today.

OMG, I posted this same exact thing on another message board! I hate when people ask me that because then I start thinking, "do I not look ok???"
