If you are having that one symptom from missing a dose. that is not manic / bi-polar. I get that way if I miss a dose of Zoloft at times. I also have to take into account how much (or lack of) sleep I have had, what I have been eating, what my activity level has been, my school workload, that also contributes to my mood. If one is loaded on responsibility, lacking in rest &/or a proper diet and misses a dose, I can see where this can cause irritability. I have been there, done that. I too am not too keen on meds, BUT if they help the situation, I am for them. There are some drugs that for me, I would NOT take (or would not like my hubby or step daughter taking) like Rogain, Viagra, accutane, antibiotics for acne for vanity purposes. Also any med that you can try to alter your lifestyle first and under the recommendation and supervision of your doctor, like a med for heartburn, high blood pressure. At times, some ailments can be altered with diet and excercise, but as always consult with your doctor and be honest with them.
