My mornings and nights are the worse for my anxiety. I find if I can get myself up and into my routine I am ok but I still worry all day long. But it can be horrible. Sometimes, I am in the bathroom wondering how I am going to make it through the day. And at night, my new symptom is that I feel like I have to get up and run. I end up shaking my legs until the feeling goes away. I spoke with my doctor and he gave me a perscription for cymbalta. I read too many bad things about cymbalta so I went to Whole Foods and got a Kava mix and thought I would try that.Does anyone else have these issues??

Mornings were and still are my most challenging time of the day. The worry of what the day can bring can get to you for sure. Try to think about the positive things you can do, etc. You say that once in your routine, you're good. That's a positive to go on. Tell yourself, "Even though I'm not feeling well this AM, I know I'll feel better later and can do (whatever)."

When I was having trouble sleeping, nights were anxious for me too. That has passed, but I can understand. Do you like to read? Maybe a good book before bed can take your mind off the anxiety and put it in a different world before bed. Good luck! :)

Yes, have a nightly routine that you can do at the same time every night if possible. In the morning, excersize (SP?)right there in your room before your mind starts working its evil thinking( not saying you're evil or anything like that!! But our minds can so try to control us!!). You are the hero and champion of yourself- let not the thoughts, shakes, and feelings take you prisoner!! Even if you just do some jumping jacks or something really simple, make sure that you have a "montra" (I don't know how to spell that either!!) anyway, you need to say to yourself. "It's a great day and I'm going to make it greater!" or " I am the boss, not you" or something like that. It's not stupid, it's true. You will make your body and feelings you have better at the very least. I tell myself these things all the time, I have to or I lose myself and panic like I just did today but that's a long story. Even when I brush my teeth, I say what I need to say and make myself smile. It feels so good to smile for no reason, really, I mean it makes me feel better. I hope you try these simple things and stick to the program and what it tells you to do as well. I know how you feel. Oh, remember not to exersize no sooner than 4 hours before you go to bed or your body will not want to sleep. Take care and God Bless your am's and pm's!!

Hi,

I also have had problems, especially at night, and would end up crying myself to sleep. I think it has helped, though, to have something to look forward to at bedtime, like listening to the relaxation tape or reading a good book as suggested above. Make it your own special time to enjoy, relax and wind down. I think sometimes we just do not take time to wind down in the evenings (especially moms who still have just one more thing to do before going to bed) so we get anxious that we did not get everything done we wanted to and start worrying about everything that needs to get done the next day. I really like listening to the relaxation tape just before bed, or reading my Bible or even just meditating and trying to clear my mind of everything.

My anxieties are similar to yours. I have the exact same feeling of wanting to get up and run at night. Sleep anxieties are really hard for me right now.

In the mornings I find myself getting on the computer to calm myself down. Then like you, once I get into my routine I feel better, even though the anxieties are still there.

I have my worse anxiety in the a.m. as I am
dreading the commute to work and getting stuck
in traffic gives me much anxiety.
Then when I get there I'm already exhausted and
it takes me a few hours thru lunch time to relax.

I have been sufferring from chronic anxiety for the last 3 months - I went 4 days with 2/hrs sleep. I just can't shut off my brain to relax. I am married with 3 kids 4.5 and under and I work full-time. My insomnia is driving me crazy because now I have sleep anxiety because of all of the sleepless nights. I fear I will never sleep again and this thought alone is keeping me up all night. Any suggestions?

des I am so sorry you are having a problem with sleeping. I find when I do that it is a wonderful time for me to journal. Seems to help me release some of what is bothering me. Don't forget to write 10 things you are thankful for, lets it end in a positive thought. I pray you will rest well tonight. Also, don't try to make yourself sleep, I found I was doing that alot.
