today i felt fine this morning and have been feeling ok the past couple of days but this afternoon i was driving and had i feeling in my chest that im finding hard to describe the only thing i could think of was that it felt like a balloon popping in my chest it really scared me now naturally i have pains in my cheat like always i have noticed with myself that when i feel anxious i tighten up my stomach so bad if anyone has had this please let me know this is new to me thanks
Your heart and your stomach are very sensistive organs when it comes to anxiety. You may not even be aware that you were thinking about something negative and yet your body is. Do not panic. Your body is just in fight or flight mode. Take deep breaths in and out (2 seconds in, 4 seconds out) and repeat this for at least 1 minute. Then, distract yourself. You can simply count from 100 to 1 backwards or recite your ABCs backwards, something that makes you think and redirects your mind elsewhere. Remember, we cannot have a feeling without first having a thought.
