Hello,
I'm a 21 year old male who gets anxious and depressed. I was given the program and it has been a life changing experience. I'm on the 13th CD and I feel like a new person.
However, I'm attending a city college and have very little direction career-wise. This is some of the cause of my anxiety. I was wondering what a good career path would be for people like us. You know, we're sensitive, creative, analytical. I feel we should use these things to our advantage but its hard to know where to use these gifts.
So I guess my question is: Where can someone who is sensitive, creative and analytical become most successful?
~Thanks
Good careers for "people like us"
jman228,
Questions / concerns for you. On the encouraging side; I would have been helped if I had program in collage. Thank the person who gave program to you.
I went into Social Work because I thought I was a people person; now I know I'm a people pleaser so this career was a bad match and agony for me (I did not know why).

[Confused: your date of "post" and your "registration" date are today. Yet you have completed 13 sessions?..So maybe you got program many weeks ago and didn't join the online part till today -? Hopefully you haven't compressed the program into a short span...I doubt this would be life changing.]

I know I messed up on my major & minor and my first job (at least) but I didnt have the information you have. I would talk to your college adviser/counselor ASAP: ask him for a Briggs/Myer personality test. Even if you have taken one in the past it may change now that you can honestly understand yourself. Also, explain what you have learned about yourself to counselor - dont be embarassed (I mite have been at 21) this person has heard a lot of stuff. Besides IT IS THE REST OF YOUR LIFE!!!
I found out I am better with working with things (facts, figures, material) than with people. In college I thought I would hate working at a "desk job" -- yet it is more my nature than social work. Save yourself time and aggravation and search now

Hey JMan-
Lucinda has a follow up program with tapes/CDs and book called "Life without Limits". It will encourage you to explore various career options based upon your true desire and your healthy self...
Be encouraged you are in a good place being in College and starting your new life with all of these life management skills...you could not have picked a better time in your life to work on you and your career... so give yourself a pat on the back and a hug
... Everything is going to be alright....

JMann,
I am assuming that you have come to the conclusion that you will not be normal nor will be able top be with other people to the extent that so-called 'normal' people do/are. Do not accept that thought. You are VERY NORMAL! Admit that at this time you are still anxious, but get in your program, live it breathe it! Think BIG and dont withhold any dream! The program dosent make us 'only good enough' to get by on, no it shows us how to dismantle the old thought pattern and begin a New-Positive thought life. Start listening to motivationl speakers such as Jim Rohn and Zig Ziglar. read books like Joel Osteen's 'Your Best Life Now'. look online for more suggestions for Positive Self Talk. Never sell yourself short and never settle for less than a FULL LIFE!

H A HANNA:
I've never thought of those things. Thanks for the suggestions.
iHope:
Yes, I've been listening to the tapes since January. However, I haven't had a question until now. I kinda forgot about the online portion. =)
I'll talk with a counselor about that test as soon as I can. Thanks for the suggestion. Choosing a major is the big issue right now since I'll be transferring to a four-year university soon. The problem is there is just too many to choose from. I wish I could do them all. haha
Enlightened:
Thanks for the encouragement. College used to be a major source for my anxiety which led to depression. But now I see it as exciting (but still confusing).
RodH:
I've written those names down. Thanks. It's not that I don't feel "normal" its that I want to use my creativity and analytical thinking to my advantage when choosing a career path. This program has really impassioned me to live my life without doubt and has helped me to become assertive. I choose the topic name "people like us" because I hear Lucinda say it a lot in the CDs (just to clarify).
