Frightened of Bedroom

I'm not sure what the name of this fear is, but well here it goes. I had an horrible nightmare of this dead being on the ceiling of my bedroom probably a year ago and I'm still scared to sleep alone in there. My couch isn't very good on my back and my live in boyfriend thinks it's funny. I feel llike and idiot but I've always been able to scare myself half to death picturing some of the things I've seen on horror flicks. Any ideas on how to confince myself it's all in my head or even how to get rid of the evil presense I think I feel would be appreciated! Thanks
How about trying to listen to the Relaxation audio and keep telling yourself you are safe. Also, really try to concentrate on counting the breathing and listen for when Lucinda says something like, "let all thoughts fade away". I find it really helps when I'm having a difficult time sleeping... like tonight! I plan to use it to help me to get rid of the thoughts and just drift off to sleep.
I will admit that sometimes it's tough to listen to the audio when I think that my husband might know I'm doing that. It certainly can be uncomfortable if you don't have a private place, but do whatever is in your power to get that private place, even if it means getting the CD and listening with headphones on at night.
Best wishes for a good night's rest.

I would suggest not watching horror flicks anymore, at least not until you are recovered. This is probably the root cause of where your nightmare came from. I had a few myself when I was a boy, all coming from the scary movies I watched and the movies then in the late 50s and early 60s weren't anything like they are today.I feel llike and idiot but I've always been able to scare myself half to death picturing some of the things I've seen on horror flicks.
