I'm on the second week of the program. Somedays better than others. However, i've been doing the relaxation thing twice a day, using my own audio stuff and Lucinda's.

There are some days when I can relax my whole body plus my mind, and awake feeling deeply refresh and grounded. And there is like this morning where I felt pretty relaxed physically, but I couldnt slow down the racing thoughts enough to let my mind go into that relaxing point.

Will I have days like this at first?

My wife was laying in the bed next to me and I noticed I heard and was distracted by every page she turned in her book, plus all the movement in the bed.

Was it her or just my sensitivity to everthing at the moment?

Last question, as long I'm consistent with attempting to relax, will my body and mind grow to learn how to relax eventually? Sometimes I get anxious just because I cant relax!!!!!

BTW....I'm so excited to keep learning and practicing the new skills this program offers. THis is GREAT!!!!!!

Adrian,

The things you are experiencing are very common. I used to be very sensitive to everything. Even driving in the car with my husband, he would be going the speed limit and I felt he was going MUCH faster. Anxiety really makes you sensitive to alot of things. I could not watch scary commercials, in fact there were alot of things that bothered me. I hated loud confusion too. When you are anxious, you are really fine tuned into your senses. It's a physical thing that happens when your body is preparing for "fight or flight".

With relaxation, it takes ALOT of practice. Working your mind and body together through practice will make your ability to relax better and better. Practice really does mean everything when it comes to getting better.

You will have good days and you will have bad days - just keep your head up - keep working the program and don't look back unless it's to see how far you've come!

I've done it - you can do it! Hang in there! ;)

Yes, it is your sensitivity that has enabled you to hear the turned pages in the book, the rustle of paper or any kind of sound, actually, so acutely. Sometimes sounds seem so loud!

Your consistent practice with the relaxation tape will eventually create a new habit for you and you will beable to relax on command. Keep practicing.

When you experience circular thinking or just a lot of thoughts that won't go away - welcome them in. Let them know they are welcome here. Breathe into them as they pass by and keep your focus on your breath (or whatever you are doing in the present moment). They will soon slow down and subside. Do this each and every time they occur. You can say: "There's thought" if there is something you need to say. But that is all the attention you give them. Feel the sensations associated with the thoughts. Make them OK to be there as well.

Another thing that will slow your thoughts down is slow breathing. It doesn't necessarily have to be deep. The deep will come with practice but slowing your breath will slow your thoughts. Also, keep your pace slow. Don't rush just because your thoughts are rushing. Take deliberate, slow steps. Your mind will want your body to rush but don't. Stay slow. Your mind will get the message.

I am so glad this came up. I just thought i was being unreasonable. "Princess and the Pea".
Situation. I think this is why I feel I have such a problem Focusing on any one thing at times. I cannot concentrate , it seems like there are too many things going on at one time. Too much interfernce. My poor husband gets this LOOk from me if he interupts my train of thought at times, or if I'm in the middle of something. But i have enough trouble keeping my full attention on somthing as it is.

I thought it was just a personality quirk.
