Since you have been through the program once already, you are equipped with the skills and techniques to help you through.

Someone put a "negative thought" in your head and you're focused on that. So what if you have PTSD? That really isn't any different than anxiety/panic symptoms you had before. So you'll probably have an attack here and there like you had before, but you came through them. What's make it different now? Don't let PTSD scare you. PTSD is simply after effects of a traumatic experience. You can overcome this as you did with your anxiety/panic attacks the firs time around. What you're going through right now it probably some "setbacks" or "relapses" as I call them. You'll pull through as you did before. So when you start thinking negatively, tell yourself to stop and place something positive in your mind. Give yourself a reality check to know you're OK and you will defeat fear...cause that's all it is, obsessively thinking of fear/scared of your own self.

I know what you're going through as I've had the same situations occur but I was able to tell myself, I know what I'm suppose to do (to care of it) and seriously, why am I letting it bother me (as I don't have time for fear to control me).

Godspeed to you Hope7.

I second the opinion above that who cares what you call it. The answers are the same and you have a headstart on this re-do.

Here's a bit of courage ((())))

Hi Hope7,
PTSD does come from a traumatic experience. But remember PTSD is anxiety. I have PTSD, my doctor told me it is anxiety, if you look it up, you will see that.
I feel the person at StressCenter shouldn't have told you that you have PTSD. Now if they are a Doctor or Therapist that has been treating you, that would be a diferent story. As Libran said, someone put a negative thought in your head.
Don't worry about the counting, I when through that. I will even start counting going to the mailbox, cleaning, etc;. I couldn't tell you where it came from, I just would catch my self counting. I figure it was a way to distract myself. It is no big deal.
I have never done the coaching from StressCenter, if you are not comfortable with this coach, can you ask for another one?
You can function, you came on line and type your post. Counter that negative thought with a postive thought.
Just look at this as a growth spurt. Work the program, come here a lot and read the post, go to chat, if that helps you. Just know there are people here for you.
God Bless You!!!!

Do not hold on to the thought, let it float by. I am sure you remember the snowball effect of fear feeding fear.

Go speed.

This is a great post with great information. It's all about acceptance and knowing you will handle things as they come along. Whether you have PTSD or not isn't the issue. The treatment is the same. Allow those uncomfortable feelings. They will pass. Love and soothe yourself every step of the way, and welcome the fear in. Don't fight it. It will pass much more quickly.
