The throwing up part has always been really hard for me and not just in public i can't even do it if friends or family are around. I'm not sure how I managed but from a young age i kinda trained myself not to... it's horrible though b/c you never get the relief of not feeling like you're going to at any secound. Sorry I know that's not to much help but one of the ways i control it is if I'm in the car i unroll the window and let the cold air hit my face. I also had a friend tell me that coriners (probebly spellling that wrong) smile if they think the are going to throw up b/c i guess it's impossible to smile and throw up. As far as the passing out that is one of the main reasons that I am back on medication... I take Xanax XR wich is a 24hr control release and has completely stopped me from passing out in public and has helped a lot with the nausea, sweating, pounding heart, and all the other lovely anxiety feeling!! I hope this helps best of luck!!

Hi LTG, I used to have the EXACT SAME PROBLEM. I used to just throw up and every doctor told me I just had the stomach flu. But turns out they were a symptom of my anxiety/ panic attacks. It sucked 'cuz I'd feel nauseated even if I were excited (excitement and anxiety have the same symptoms)

Don't be so scared if you don't always feel in control. Guess what? I went through your worst fears before: I threw up in public from being so panicked. And you know what? NOBODY CARES. You might get looks of concern, but nobody's going to laugh at you. It's part of life, people vomit; people pass out sometimes. Chances are nobody will even know it was from panic; they'll assume you got carsick, or you ate something bad, or you got dizzy, or it was too hot outside, etc.

As Lucinda said: "Chances are, your worst fear isn't going to happen or isn't bad at all."

Hello there. I was reading your post and it seems that you have passed out before from panic attacks. I am no doctor but what many doctors and phycs have told me that is almost impossible to pass out from a panic attack if you are healthy. They told me that people have passed out before that had low blood pressure, but healthy people would not pass out from a panic attak. I have had my health checked and from what they told me, my health was fine and I would not pass out. Well since that day I do not worry about passing out and have done well. But know I have read your post, I think my doctors were wrong...and well I am now once freaked again.

I just wanted to let you know that I know exactly what you are going through with the fearing of passing out. I have actually passed out twice in my life because of panic attacks and whenever I get around large groups of people or out of my comfort zone, I am paranoid. This is why I finally ordered the program.
And I totally disagree with you, Gopen... I am extremely healthy. I have just had bloodwork done and got excellent results. I don't think health really has anything to do with passing out from panic attacks. **This is only MY opinion, I am in no way trying to attack you** The passing out and most of the other symptoms of panic attacks have a lot to do with the way we breathe. If you are panicking and breathing irregularly, hyperventilation will cause you to pass out. Correct me if I'm wrong...

If you ever want to talk, I'm here! I know how hard it can be to deal with this... Just one day at a time!!! You'll get there!

first of all don't disagree with me. Disagree with my doctors. I never said you could not pass out. Thats what they told me. I have had some very BAD panic attacks over the pasy 14 years and have never passed out. I think I am going to sometimes but never do. But who really knows.

Thanks guys... I have never actually passed out and haven't thrown up in many years. I just somehow developed this stupid fear of it. To be honest I get more anxious and panicky reading these posts that it actually can happen from panic attacks!!! yikes.. i guess i just need to work religiously on this program to control my thoughts and my reactions to them. My hope is to get to the point where i can not only talk myself out of a panic attack, but prevent them entirely by separating myself from my thoughts. I have a lot of work to do i guess...
Many thanks.
