Economy=Anxiety
I don't know how others reacted to President Bush's message last night but it freaked me out. I'm a planner and I've planned my retirement, kids college and other things so carefully and thought I was finally in a good position and now this happened. I know life isn't perfect but I'm really in a new type of anxiety over this, anyone else feel this way?
I didnt watch the talk on tv...but I agree with you this economy has me feeling a high influx of anxiety due to finance. It then trickles to my marriage and my attitude. Its really hard to see the positive side of such a gloomy issue.
I know for us personally we are struggling.
Hubby is working way too many hours and the stress is piling up. We have absolutely no time for us as a couple we are just so exhausted financially, mentally, emotionally and physically. Its very hard times.
But I do the best I can to push on I know that its not gonna be great days right now but Im pushing for ok to good. If I can make the best of each day and what it brings me Im doing ok.
Hang in there John....if you did a good job preparing yourself you will be ok. Just think years ago we were sitting pretty so things will change around again.....the wrongs always right themselves.
My personal opinion is that the war is to blame. Our country never flourishes in any sense of the word when we are at war....history has proven it. So we need to focus on our people, our country, our land, our money and take our noses out of where we dont belong and things will get better. Again just my opinion.

Too often we enjoy the comfort of opinion without the discomfort of thought.

I am 28 and have taken great interest in the stock market and finances over the last year. We are experiencing scary times and it is completely understandable to feel anxiety over this. The prudent thing to do is stay the course and not panic, but it is near impossible to see through all the murkiness in front of us. Noone can assure us that everything will be okay which creates even more panic. The noly thing that keeps me sane when I think about financial issues is that historically things always bounce back and usually stronger than before. My post may not have offered you any consoling, but I am just trying to convey that many of us feel the same uncertainty and that we can share our fears on this board without being judged.

I watched it as well and am grateful that this issue is finally being taken seriously enough to put a plan in place that may help. Just standing idlely by and hoping things will get better certainly hasn't worked. I agree with Tigerman that in the long run, our economy will improve and our 401ks, stocks, etc.. will go back up.
