My doctor says that I am ready to go back to work. I have been on long term disability for the past 9 months. I don't want to go back although I have getting better everyday, I am scared to death to go back fearing I will have a panic attack at work like I did before. Please any advice on returning to work will help?

I have to start working again tomorrow and I am pretty nervous about that. I guess the only thing you can really do is try it. If you can't handle it, then don't go back. It's always good to let your employer know what's up ahead of time too because they might be understanding.

The manager at the place I am starting at knows that I have issues with anxiety, and they have seriously bent over backwards to make sure I will be comfortable there.

I am going back to work next week. I do not have to, but I would like to try. I hope you find that your employer understands what you have been going through. I just started the program, so maybe if you have completed the program you can use the techniques you learned.

Glad to see you all have the ability to go out. I did not realize that Anxiety could be listed as a disability and that you could be out.

In my job, while a few know about my issues, if I ever want out, I think the position I am in now is the last position I would ever get.

I am sure they would never say, 'Because of your anxiety you cannot be a manager,' but I have a good feeling I would never get a team.

Engine2:

I actually applied for this program here in NY called VESID. It's supposed to be like educational/workforce help for people who have disabilities, and depression and anxiety qualify as one.
