since i had a panic attack at work last month i have been feeling anxious everyday when i go to work. like very anxious and i think it possibly makes me physically sick but i feel like i have some weird disease or cancer or something cause i always feel nauteous and sometimes throw up and like i have to go to the bathroom and very out of it and i get headaches everyday. do you think my anxiety is causing all these physical effests? i have been so stressed lately AND especially at work or before work. aill stay up at night freaking out about having to go to work and thinking i'll have a panic attack again. thats my problem . im scared ill get sick at work and cant leave. last year i had this problem around this same time of the year. i was thinking of taking 5htp cause i hate what anti-deps have done to me. too many dide effects. even 2 nights ago i got a fever and cold sweats with the flu and i feel like either im dying or my anxiety is causing it. has this happen to anybody before??

Absolutley. You're constantly antisipating your next panic attack and yes it's making you sick. The thoughts about cancer and disease is your way of distracting yourself. Do you have the program? I don't know what 5htp is. Yes I have had all these symptoms before from anticipatory anxiety. You need to distract yourself with something. Do you have a doctor you can talk to? If you're really concerned, you should get a physical or just checked out to make sure nothing is really wrong with you. But with so many of us here can tell you, that 99.9% there is nothing seriously wrong with you physically and it is your anxiety. This is a great place to get help.

Holly:
Don't worry. You sound just like so many of us with anxiety. The symptoms are real, but you are creating them. My suggestion would be to do what myself and many others have done. Go to your doctor, get a physical, discuss your physical complaints. You are NOT crazy. You have anxiety. Once you can be medically assured that you are in no physical danger, it may halp eleviate some of your physical symptoms.
I know that the meds are a tricky question, but you have to do what it right for you. If you need meds, take them without fear. That is your path to healing. Don't feel ashamed or fearful. You are okay, more than okay...you are on the road to taking control of your situation. I am proud of you!
