I am curious how you have progressed since you posted this. Read my first post from yesterday. I am going through hell right now and hope that you have gotten some relief.

Taking medications is not failure in my opinion. This program is very contradictive about the subject. Generally, there is an undercurrent of negativity about them but in the medication/alcohol session they practically advocate taking meds to get the most out of this program. I took Lexapro/klonopin up until that session, and weaned off. I feel great now. I feel medication helped me get everything out of this program and had I not taken them, I would have never been able to focus at all. I was a wreak: too many panic attacks to count; terrible insomnia; extreme weight loss; depression; you name it, I had it. Now, I have none of those problems. Medication is not a life sentence. We see things so black and white: it's not so. You can take meds, feel better, work the program, and go off the meds. Lots of us have done just that, and you can too. Good luck.

Tweaky ~

I agree with you on this subject. Sometimes, also, it IS hereditary & CHEMICAL. A lot of people fail to see that. I know for me, depression runs in my family.

I exercise [or try to] every day, eat healthy & do relaxation. As I felt I was doing everything I could do get better & definitely recovered anxiety-wise, my depression got increasingly worse. I didn't feel like myself & I definitely wasn't in a good place.

Since starting Prozac in December I am my old self again. I enjoy life again. I don't wake up with a black cloud hanging over me. My family & fiance have noticed almost a complete turn around.

Many people don't fully understand medications & think that it is a band aid that we use instead of dealing with our problems head on. It's not ALWAYS the truth. If you do everything you possibly can & still aren't feeling right, I believe that medication is a very useful and wonderful tool to use so that we may feel better, even if we only need it for a few months.

You are right, we tend to see things in black & white when in reality there are so many shades in between! When one doesn't understand something [be it medication, anxiety, depression, ANYTHING!] assumptions tend to be made & unfortunately it's human nature.

altj & Blarecat ~ I wish you both the best. If you have any questions or just need to talk feel free to private message me. Take care.
