Im desperate. Im on my last year at college and cant sit in class for over 20min. Im also supposed to start working at the college clinic but I cant be in a room anymore. Im so afraid Im going to fail and I have put so much effort into this course.
I was going to check myself into a clinic for 4 weeks but I decided not to.
I went to a doctor yesterday and he gave me luvox and a referal to a psicologist.
I have been having ups and downs with anxiety for 18 months. When I think Im better it comes back again. Now my breathing gets so shallow and fast that I think Im going stop breathing.
I cant eat in public places anymore.
Every day seems to be such a struggle. Every day is dedicated to fight anxiety.
Im starting to read Lucindas book again. Any advice?

Have you done the 15 week program, Michelle? Reading alone will not make the problems go away. The workbook that goes with the program motivates each person to take action. It's consciously experiencing the feelings of anxiety while using the tools that will help you to heal.

Practice your breath work for now and get that adrenalin under control. When you exhale and you think you've gotten rid of all the air, exhale again. It will feel slightly strained. Then exhale again. Now your lungs should be ready for you to take in a nice deep breath. hold to the count of 4 and then exhale slowly through pursed lips.

Practice your breath right now. Do this several times a day until breathing is no longer an effort.

Once you get your breath under control, use the Thought Stoppage, calm breath - holding for 4, and shifting your attention to something outside of your mind. Focus on what is really going on in the classroom. You'll still feel some discomfort but you can handle it. You really can.

Actually, use the thought stoppage, calm breath and attention shifting now, too. Stop entertaining the "what if's" and scary thoughts of doubt. Stay as present as you can. Practice all the time.

Hi Michelle. Talk to your Counselor to see if your school has online classes or other options. My neice had to stop going to her classes a few years ago
for some reason and her shool allowed her to finish the year online. I don't know if your shool does that but it won't hurt to go to your counselor and find out what options you have. But please try to use your skills from the program, first.

DeeDee.
