I was told that a panic attack is generally brought on by a fear of something we have an issue with and come and go usually within minutes to maybe a couple of hours.
We can wake up from a peacefull sleep with an anxiety attack and not know what hit us. They can last for several days and are much stronger and have made me feel like I'm going to go crazy.
Just what a doc told me.

I personally think there is a difference between the two and have experiences both!
I get anxiety fairly regularily (or at least I did) and it would come and go...no big deal...but sometimes when I would be out I'd have an anxiety attack and just want to get back home...where I would feel fine once I was there...it just made me want to leave whatever place I was at the time...
panic attacks scare the living bejeebus out of me! They can happen anywhere and yes, usually brought on by a very specific fear or high doses of anticipatory anxiety....with a panic attack I feel i'm about to lose my mind and I sweat and my mouth goes dry, and I feel like i'm either going to be sick or have diarrhea and I, in most situations, have to pace for HOURS just to get the adrenaline to go away...i tremble, I cry...this is all before I learned about the power of breathing, positive self talk, daily DEEP relaxation, therapy, vigorous exercise and all that good stuff...i definitely believe there is a difference though the line they're on is the same. I just think Panic is heightened to an unbelievable level.
