forever: I am looking for a job at this time. I got layed off from my job due to the economy
almost three years ago. I have to admit that I was not very positive or very active about
locating a job in the very beginning. I was looking for full time positions with benefits, etc.
Then I started to look for part time work or look for work at staffing agencies. I got an interview
recently for a part time position and I think the interview went well. I am definately overqualified
for this position I was interviewing for, but I really need to work after three years of being
so complacent and being in a lull. I will hear in a week or two if I got the job. The work sounds
very routine and does not require any computer experience, which would be a good first step
for me in getting out there in the workplace again. It would hopefully help me gain more
confidence and learn some new skills. I was not nervous at the simple interview that I attended,
but I am nervous about being picked for the job. I need the money that a full time job would bring,
but if I have to work at a part time job in the meantime then that is what I will have to do.
My sister is helping me out financially right now and I am sure she would love to hear that I got a
part time job because of the money it would bring in ! Today I am staying home and TRYING to finish
up Session Three. Lynda :)

Same with me I just got laid off and like you I would like to have a job with insurance so will need to be full time. but it looks like about all you can find is part time. I hate to take that right now as I would love to spend time trying to help myself get well. I have the program so I need to break it back out and start working it. I also need to work on my limitations. I like you have lost confidence in my self I think to lose my job I must be a bad person. I know the longer I stay home the harder to get back out. there are days I don't get dressed or fix my hair why I am not going anywhere. Good luck I think you are on the right route

Want to say that we must be in a fighting mode always resisting the negative forces that are there all the time. There are plenty of mornings I'd rather not wake up. But as long as I wake up I must hold on and do what I can to make sure I do not turn into a burden to anyone.

Lynda, I can't really single out one book over others, excepting my own creation (joking). I've read a good number of books in Psychology from Freud on up. My problem is more depression but believe CBT (the program) can help there too. The truth is I do create my own CBT categories because a number in the program do not apply to me and I want to give greater emphasis to those that do. I have ordered the Sam Obitz book out of curiosity and maybe what I can share with others. Have read good things about it. Might add that I am big on exercise and meditation which I believe reconditions the brain in directions we seek.

Lets talk about restraints, we are good at applying them to ourselves.
Unemployment frees up time for the prepration for what is coming next. Imploding is not a healthy option, so girls now is not the time to be getting anxious. It is time to imlement growth and sprout some mojo. The $$$$$$ FOR ALL THESE BENEFITS ARE NOT GOING TO LAST. Sorry about the caps but the facts are if you wait and procrastinate time and toll will win and you lose. Reality has nothing in common with fair.
We must refrain from the should, could or I will thinking, try some "I AM" and Make it happen and check off things from the list of to do's thus releasing the anchors dragging on us while moving forward. We must go out of our way to move forward and use the tools we learn from the self help programs. The words are useless if not destructive if not put into positive action.

Preperation and being active, it works if one works it.

Tina, the Robins have shown up and are busy making nests. They are also teaseing the bird dog pups as the fly around their cage. Makes my mood brighten as spring is coming and goodbye cold weather.

R: Thank you for your advice, I agree with you.

From Lucinda's book:

We must each claim our own power and recognize our own part

in the creation of and recovery from anxiety disorder.

In the final analysis, recovery is completely up to each individual.

Hi Guys,
R. and T. it is always especially wonderful to hear from both of you. Tina, I'm reeling from the death of my best friend's father who finally succumbed to dementia, and I thought of you and your brother's plight often.

It's a cruel trick that our body plays on us in the end, but I had the good fortune of spending time with a Monsignor called Father Jim who quickly reacquainted me with my Catholic roots. I know your beliefs, but I do find great strength in God's plan.

I'm happy that you can draw strength from meditation and exercise as that is extremely beneficial both to the mind and body. (as you know more then most)

R., I am sorry that you too are struggling, but happy that your robins have reappeared.

I don't want to bore you with my trials and tribulations, but suffice it to say that I too am struggling.

I have come out of the worst weekend of my life truly learning the most valuable lesson of all. I only wonder why it has taken me 53 years to really, really learn my lesson.

"Stuff" does not matter. None of it. Not one thing in the end matters. Just people. We matter. We all matter so much, and the imprint we leave behind matters.

You have been trying to tell me this all along, but I feel a little bit like Dorothy on the Yellow Brick Road. I finally learned what I needed to learn.

"......“If you could only sense how important you are to the lives of those you meet; how important you can be to the people you may never even dream of. There is something of yourself that you leave at every meeting with another person......”
― Fred Rogers

Love Always,
Jamie

J : Sorry to hear about your loss.

I just read this about support systems. You have found a good place here.

"One of the most important parts of recovery is setting up a solid
support system. Make sure that you have a comfortable group of
people, close friends, or family, who will support your strengths and
disempower your weaknesses. This group will be one of the greatest
blessing in your life."
