The HR contact called me again on my home and cell #s. This time he left a message on my cell. I didn't answer either calls just like yesterday.

The company has already rejected me on paper. I can only think this guy wants to apologize for all the baloney. I'll put on my white collar and play Father Charlie. "Say ten Our Father's, five Hail Mary's, and don't call me no more." (As opposed to "sin no more.") :D

I'll phone him back tomorrow.

Father Charlie! LOL... You still have your humor! :D

Maybe you could have a per recorded message to play on your machine, " HR thanks but no thanks, I have spent enough time on your silly job hiring and have seen what a messed up company this is. You need not leave anymore of your encrypted messages" Thank You! :D

I'm glad that your not mad at the "BIG GUY" who knows what this is all about? One day you will know the answer, and you may even "Thank GOD" for unanswered prayers! I know I have! LOL...
Hang loose...Think about you next move. ;)

I was in McDonald's this morning @ 8:30 having breakfast when the “my” company HR rep called me. This was his third attempt, and the earliest. I returned his call when I got home and found out I am still capable of getting the job! The final hurdle is getting salary verification from my job from 2005-08.

I told him about the letter I received saying I was denied. When he started at “my” company, he got the same letter too . If they don't get the requested info, whatever it is--in his case it was also salary verification from a prior employer--“my” company sends out the letter. He apologized and said exactly what I told my wife: unless someone above him, aka of the "big" boys/girls, changes background check companies, it remains the same. He also mentioned that the 2005-2008 job verified my employment there but didn't give any salary info. (Not because I worked for that company, but I don't think its their fault. I think the fault lies with this crack background check firm.)

Once they get the salary verification, then I can be brought on board. He asked if I wanted to continue the candidacy, and said he didn't want me to think bad of the job itself because of this experience. I really didn't have ill will about the job; I had been pumped about it, though I doubted the company itself because of all this garbage. I paused (for drama) and said ok to continuing.

I faxed a request to my old company's HR dept. I don't keep W2s, etc, beyond a year or two.

I am happy this appears to be coming to a favorable result, but right now I have a headache that could tip over a moose.

THH and manofmusic,

You are both right. I can honestly say I have never had such a job hiring experience IN MY LIFE. This is effing insane.

I have to leave in a little while to get my new suits finally altered. When I return, I definitely have to do some yoga. I slept eleven hours last night and felt like I needed it.

Thanks for the support.

Boy, the BS doesn't stop.

The only hold-up left is salary verification from my 2005-2008 job. I got an idea of getting an old bank statement from during that time to show the direct deposit and that it came from that particular company. Plus I found a website that converts net (or post-tax) amounts to gross (or pre-tax) amounts. I inputted the direct deposit amount which is net and got my yearly gross amount. I made a screenshot of this which proves the amount I said I made. I sent these documents as attachments to the HR rep at "my" company.

He emailed me to call him back. Why couldn't he just say what he had to say in the email ? I called him and got his VM. He called back 45 minutes later and advised to send the portion of the bank statement that proves this was really my bank account.   "I just want to cover the bases and avoid any possible further problems." The point is good but after six weeks of crap?

Below in italics is my email when I sent the other bank account portion.

I have attached an additional jpg file as you suggested just now in our telephone conversation. This third file further identifies my ownership of the checking account. Yellow highlighted: the same 2008 date span as the prior bank jpg file, my name and address, and "Checks Paid" which shows what I sent before was from the paid checks section of my bank statement.

Prior to this I did some major de-stressing: yoga, going to the park with my SEALS book and a cup of coffee, then feeding one of the neighborhood cats. More yoga is definitely on tap for tonight.

Oh man, Charlie,
You have earned a paycheck! Hope they don't hide your check like in the Divinci Code and leave you a trail of crumbs or encrypted clues to find it.

So glad you are almost hired! :) :D :? ;)

Yeah, I want a paycheck for doing most of the background check firm's work!

"My" company's contact called again this evening to say their HR department accepted my proof of salary verification, but they have to relay it to the background check firm. Honest to God, the relationship between "my" company and the BC firm is like a messy marriage and I am the poor child in the middle.

He said more than likely I will start this Monday. (But hey, with this Mickey Mouse outfit I could start October 2012.) He will call me tomorrow with the outcome.

Tonight I actually feel good. No stress, no moose-tipping headaches, etc. Thank God.

It looks like I am not starting Monday. I got no calls or emails. Why am I not surprised? It's actually fine by me--another week off.
