Oh manofmusic,
You did it again. I like your choice in music. Santana, I'm winning EXCELENT choice! I think we were in the same erra esp with music. so many good bands, and music that will never go out of style!
SeaRunner,
LOL... 45? I hate to tell you I can remember 33's! LOL... We had record players that sometimes skipped. We would place a penny on the arm to keep in on the record!
Funny on eating paste!!! LOL
Jillzmind is right? a Fedora would fit well!

What can I say....a good tune can pull me out of the deepest of pits.
Yep THH, sounds like we were buying the same 45's and 33's at the same time ! Nothing beats those tunes at all !
Well......I had my eye appt today. I told the dr about what happened a few Fridays ago and I told him about the migraine symptoms. He scanned the outside, inside and behind the eye and told me that my eyes were in very good shape. He said not to worry about losing the peripheral vision teporarily because that was just one more symptom of the migraine. He also told me that if a migraine starts in the middle of the forehead, some people will lose vision in the top half of both eyes temporarily. Needless to say, I was relieved. My perscription changed a bit so I got to pick out new glasses today.
In a month, I have a dr appt (check up, blood work and a PSA test), then a dentist appt for a check up, cleaning and x-rays. After that, I'll be set for a year.
Now that I know that the vision loss wasn't something serious, I can breathe again.
SeaRunner - I've heard that song before but didn't know it was from a movie. Good tune.
Hope everyone is doing good today !

Jilly - I think the world is letting out a sigh of relief that there won't be a photo-shopped image of me in the gold turban. To be honest, I could see a fedora in certain situations but I'm really a baseball cap kind of guy.
THH and Music - To be honest, when I was a little kid, I had one of those portable suitcase record players. I had a few LP's but it wasn't very long after that the tape cassette took over and then the CD.
Music - Glad to hear that the eye exam went well. Yeah, the movie was probably what popularized the song. I don't know that it was written for the film or if the film just used it.

I think you are on to something when you say a good tune can lift you up. I have been down alot this last week or so and I have noticed that I have been watching too much crap on tv. It really is very important for us suggestable types to remember the rule of "Garbage in Garbage out!!" That our mind and actions will often be the result of what we tell ourselves or watch or listen too. I remember a friend who was bedridden with depression and she would spend hours and hours watching shows and documentaries about death and demons and then listen to break up songs and eat donuts in bed and cry. After some major tough love she quit the TV in bed with the negative crap and quit eating snacks in bed too. It made a GIANT difference in her mood and energy to get up and do things.
I am making sure that I watch uplifting and encouraging things and the same with music. It has to be good and inspiring or just intrumental. No Slipknot for this chick hahaha or Eric Carmens "All by myself" either..
It's hard to be our own and best friend and advocate but Geez Louise we have to ya know? I am thankful for this thread and the hope and inspiration you all are to me. Bless you guys lots and lots

YEY! Music! Good report on the eyes.
So happy for you. Keep up with posting the great music. I'll look for some too.
SeaRunner,
Your not THAT young if you had one of those old players! LOL... Boy cassettes were the bomb. We were all so excited with them. I think my dad bought a 8 track and we all laughed at him. They didn't last long. Maybe we scared him to this day, he don't think the computer is here to last! LOL...(hes 78)
Jillzmind,
You got that right about all the crap on TV. It makes me feel bad too. There's got to be better programing out there!

It's so funny how similar we all are! Last year my boyfriend moved in to my house with me. I was going through a very rough patch of depression at the time and one day he came in the bathroom as I was getting ready for work and made a very logical observation... Every morning I was listening to the AM radio news as I got ready (which, as all of us women know, this process can take a while!). Anyways, it was all gloom-and-doom news about politics, economy, crime, etc. He said 'well of COURSE you're depressed if this is how you start your morning off each day!'
Although I don't want to be ignorant to the world around me, I also don't need to watch or listen to sensationalism. All news channels try to make things seem worse than they are for ratings. Do you ever notice how 'dramatic' even the most boring story comes off? I have stopped watching and listening to main stream news and it has done wonders for me. If anything, I look for the most nuetral reporting possible (certain publications attempt to do this) just to stay up on current events.
Who needs the drama... they just do it for ratings!

THH - Hey! I might be that young. It was a very modern suitcase record player. It had a plug and everything. No wind up players for this guy, LOL!
Jill and Beranger -
The ironic thing about the garbage on TV and in the news is that they wouldn't play it if it didn't get ratings. That means that we, being the general public, prefer the garbage over the good stuff. Why is it that we are drawn to misery, suffering, and doomsday situations? A train wreck is to people like a ripe banana is to fruit flies! It's just peculiar.

I think I was born around the time that the 8 tracks faded out.
As for the record player thing, I even had one when I was growing up...I think it was fisher price (:P)
the gloom and doom is why I never really got into watching news or reading newspapers ever. It is mostly depressing stuff. So much better to start your day off visualizing goals or meditating or something like that
