I'm not sure and the weird thing is I read that sometimes by the time you feel bad and check, it may have already changed because your adrenaline kicks in to raise the blood sugar. You notice the symptoms of the adrenaline slightly after it starts working on your BS.

Mine has never been below 70's when I've checked it so I'm not sure if I have it or not. Sometimes it's how fast it drops too like mine went from 140'ish to 70'is once.

Hi Everyone,

wow, great thread.. my chiropractor suggested I check this 'condition' out but I have yet to.

Can anyone explain the testing they do? name? and if you are.. what kinds of food CAN you eat? everyone has mentioned carbs and sugars are bad, that doesnt leave much else.. even store brand oatmeal has tons of sugar!

Thanks again for the info!

Here are some links I've found. . .not sure how valid the info is. I haven't been tested yet but they say if you try the diet and feel better that's sort of proof.

I eat more proteins and veggies and dairy; eggs, nuts cheese. Some fruit and of course I do have carbs but more limited. I have whole grains for those and for oatmeal you're supposed to eat the natural longer cooking kind. I haven't done that yet.

I eat plain yogart before bed and when I wake up. The book The Hypoglycemic Handbook suggest that. Anyway here are some links I found.

There is so much information out there about it I have made my husband crazy.

I'm trying to back off a little and not be so obsessed with it. . .. trying to get it "just right" is the death of me at times. LOL

Maeggie- You can get a list on line for the foods that are on the high glycemic index. From what I know the simple carbohydrates (simple sugars etc) are the worst. Complex carbohydrates aren't as bad. - Whole grains, oat bran etc. Yes there are tons of stuff that have sugar in them. This is why it takes me forever when I grocery shop. Reading what's in everything! You can find whole grain breads in health food stores with low sugar content. And also whole grain pastas. I have a blood test once a year for glucose levels. (checks for possible diabetes) The low blood sugar test I think is a drink they give you on an empty stomach and then they measure your glucose levels at intervals. I don't have diabetes or hypoglycemia but I try to keep my blood sugar levels from fluctuating just cause it helps my anxiety.

Mary Wargo. . . did you have the 5 hour test or just the one time fasting blood sugar?

yes I'm still thinking this through. . . not sure how much of it is really hypoglycemia and how much is just me thinking about it too much.

It seems like now whenever I eat something super sweet like cake or ice cream I have a panic attack before the end of the day.

I'm feeling better overall but I don't like feeling like I'm "afraid" or "avoiding" anything. . . and this feels like now I'm afraid of food which bugs me. LOL
