I saved it to my favorites because it is so encouraging to hear about others who have gone through similiar things and made it to the other side! He has a few others on youtube but this one really spoke to the issue of Health Anxiety, which is something I have struggled with alot.

I hope everyone is doing well. And I hope the video inspires others as it has inspired me. :)

I have suffered huge with health anxiety. I have sooo many anxiety symptoms and it is really hard to tell sometimes for me if it is anxiety or something else medical, and I also try to remember nothing has happen with all these symptoms but they sure make life tuff. I have had lots of symptoms lately and worried about heart problems, been to er positive I was having a heart attack and diognose was panic attack. They did enzyme blood work, chest x-ray, heart checks and everything come back fine, that was about a year ago. I have had very tight feelings all the way around my chest, back and neck muscles and it seems like it never goes away. It feels terrible then the health anxiety kicks in bad for me which in turn makes more symptoms and bad thoughts. Sometimes I feel the symtpms will never go away because they are so constant. Has anyone else ever had the very tight and sore muscles all the way through the chest, back and neck?I have had the program for sometime now but never seem to be able to sit down and work it all the way through.

Hi Lori,

Yes, I have had that and it is muscle tension. The more you are able to relax by listening to music, maybe the relaxation Cd or what works for you, it will ease up. A massage will do wonders!

I can so sympathize with what you have been through. It sounds just like me. I've had more work ups on my heart than I can count, when I've gone to the ER with everything from shortness of breath, hyperventilating, chest pains, chest tightness, and it all came back fine. Anxiety is not fun at all. I KNOW you can come out of this. We all can. Please know that you are not alone in this. So many people battle with this.

I hope you are able to have a peaceful Labor Day weekend. Relax as much as possible. Be blessed. ;)

Hi All - I'm new to the program, but an old pro with health anxiety, panic, therapy, and meds :) I second the massages! While they can be expensive, I absolutely see them as essential to my well-being. I can truly say that the day I get a massage is the one day I feel completely relaxed all day, have no agoraphobia, anxiety, etc. I can even tell a difference in my breathing because the release of muscle tension. It does wonders for the spirit!

Have any of you guys tried to do weight training? Then you really do use those muscles and give them something to do besides clench? I've found that it really balances your muscle groups out and you can kind of "zone out" as you are working out and you feel so great when you are done. Because you can see what you have done and can see the improvements you are making. You will change in your confidence, your body shape and your posture. It's awesome. You can always do more than you think you can.

Welcome RMC829! I'll take a great massage any day! Usually given by my husband. Saves money that way. ;)

Hi newrunner,

I just recently restarted physical therapy due to a car accident a few weeks ago (OUCH!) and she has me doing ALOT of exercises for my back and neck. Right now they are gentle in nature to heal what was affected in the car accident but I am already noticing a difference in how my muscles feel. I think we have our muscles tensed up more than we realize, and when made to work them, it really does help! Thanks for the advice. I plan on keeping it up and doing more as I am able. :)

Hello Simple Truths-

I'm sorry about your car accident. To have to work on your neck and back is a bummer- I hope you weren't injured too bad.

I'm glad that you are finding that your muscles are happier when they are worked. I totally agree 100% with what you said about us being clenched way more than we realize. It seems that we are trying to curl inwards, like a baby or a turtle trying to get back into her shell, to hide away from the world. I tend to do this when I am sleeping- so it's hard to change those habits when you aren't even awake to notice when you do them. And then you have the tight muscles of curling up all night to deal with, and it makes you think something is wrong when really it's just that you have been folded up all night that is the issue.

I was reading the first part of this post and was wondering how you are doing with your health anxiety? I was sad that you won't take a shower and feel you have to sleep on the couch. I hope it's getting better with your practicing of your skills.

Hi Newrunner,

Thank you very much for your kind words. I have been doing much better. I've broken through some barriers but still have a ways to go. I started reading "The Anxiety and Phobia Workbook", along with being more active, and the stretching exercises.

It is a blessing to see how little steps can bring big changes. Putting action to what I already know to do. Learning to relax. ;)

I still have my moments, sometimes my days, but I'm learning alot as I walk out this journey.

I also agree about the sleeping thing as I know I do the same thing. I often find myself in a curled up position even where my wrists have hurt from being tucked under!

Thanks again for your kind words. :)
