Two of my rescues were rott mixes.
My Lucy was a rottweiler lab cross. Found her at 4 weeks, such a tiny baby. She had a heart attack in my arms when she was almost 12. I wish I'd had this program then. It affected my days, my work, my relations. I was so lost. People could not understand my grief. I miss her today!
My Rudy was a rottweiler doberman. He was a little puppy full of cigarette burns all over his body when I found him! What a buddy! He would talk to me while we walked the fences, searched for lost cows and calves, or chased off coyotes. The whole time he'd just keep up a little chatter, a conversation. He was so smart! I wish I knew what he was always talking about! Once the UPS driver was taking too long to retrieve a package and he jumped up through the window of the van. The poor driver turned around to see him sitting there. Rudy was simply wondering what was taking so long! I miss him every day, too.

Piper, just think of all the hundreds of padded feet that will race to meet us one day on that Rainbow Bridge! I don't know if we choose them, or they choose us. How rich they make us, right?

Well the tears they did flow and it helped a bit..some release I guess..trouble was my husband walked in and his eyes almost bugged out as he looked and said are you crying?? I said YES I Am like I havn't for so long. Reading about the suffering of the 2 babies that pecos rescued...the poor little guy with burns..just really did me in and he sounds like our Cappy boy we took from an alcoholic when he was 2, he was kept on a 10th floor balcony and let run loose in a big city. He also talks none stop to us. He is so loving and a good boy. Monty always talks to me but we actually are so bonded I know what he wants now without him talking and he reads me like a book. He came and started kissing my face as I cried. My little girl Katrina who came from Louisiana after the hurricane she's named after was such a basket case and is a mommy's girl crawled up on me and snuggled in with me on the couch me..it's amazing how smart and loving they are and how can people hurt them...I will never understand it as long as I live.
I've placed so many abused and neglected dogs in good homes and I thank God for those good people. Piper I know how bad it is...all too well. My girlfriend works for a shelter and is part of several rescue groups also. She has always got at least 3-6 dogs at a time. I have had as many as 7 at once. We only have 4 now..and they are all so special in their own ways. Yes they came with a lot of bad baggage and illnesses but are all so much better now except for poor Lady LiLo, God Bless Her. But am not ready to give up on her yet. She still enjoys life way too much to end it.

So thanks for sharing your fur baby stories and I just admire you soooooo much for all you have done for the love of animals. (((((((BIG HUGS))))))

Well, you got me crying to today, I just realized I never did have a good cry over loosing my Chico (that was my Chihuahua's name). I never heard that story about the Rainbow Bridge and that's what brought the tears on.

Hi Otama,
Yep the rainbow bridge got me just balling my eyes out too.

Sorry I was sooooo depressing today. It was just one of those days.

Hoping tomorrow is much better.

Thanks so much for your post today.

God Bless

Well this got me teary eyed today too! Maybe we all needed a release and a good cry is so cathartic. I spent a lot of time volunteering at a humane society and it reminded me of all the discarded animals there and why people discard them. I still think about the ones I spent months with until they were adopted. I was glad to hear from all of you that you cared enough to take these animals in. It makes me feel good to know that at least some of these animals will be taken care of. I've had my share of rescues also- some very sad, and some with a very happy ending.
