Thanks so much everyone for your words of encouragement
I love my husband dearly and I want to help him without being an enabler. He has been off of pills for 3 days by slowly weaning off of them. He is still going through horrible withdrawls and it is hard for me to watch.

We are a church going family and I would be so lost without my faith.

I have also checked into the alanon meetings but I have not attended one yet. My husband attended his first NA meeting so he is taking steps in the right direction.

Thank you for all of your prayers

Mrs T Bones, I watch Joyce Myers too. She's tuff but effective. Thank you for the link.

Hi Melissa :) :) :),
The close relative that I talked about earlier had "horrible" withdrawals, also!!!

He went to our local pharmacy and bought him some liquid vitamins, and these helped him tremendously!!!

He also drank lots of Gatorades, and ate lots of chocolate!!! Fruits are great too!!

My loved one took prilosecs for his stomach pain, since one usually has severe stomach pain when they discontinue taking pills!!!

He began feeling better when he began the vitamins, and it really didn't take that long at all for the withdrawals to subside!!!

He now hates any type of pain pills, and he was doing some very strong ones!!!

The withdrawals are not easy, but they will go away, and he will be fine!!!

My loved one stopped "cold turkey"....

I think the "withdrawals" are what really makes the person begin to hate pain killers, so that can be a good thing!!!

I will continue praying for your hubby!!! I know this is a very difficult time for everyone!!!

May God Richly Bless You Melissa!!!

Melissa
I am glad to hear things are getting a little bit better for you all. Yes please consider going to ALanon. I went for some time after a bad relationship and it helped me so very much. There was nothing in the meetings that took away from my faith in God, in fact it enhanced it. I even bought a daily devotional called
One Day at a Time Daily meditaions and it helped me soooo much. It's so hard to know when we are crossing the line between Christian Love and enabling and that group showed me so clearly how to catch that and be a better woman because of it. Also just like so many groups you may try a few different ones that make a nice fit for you. I went to one called Let Go and Let God and it was all older women who took me under their wing.
You are in my prayers, take care
Jill~
