Some medications just don't agree with certain people. I say, if the symptoms you are having are worse than the depression or making it hard for you to function properly, you could choose to get off of them or even find another.

But if they're bearable enough and they help your depression, maybe start the program and see how if feels before you change anything, and then after you get some tools under your belt, you could start to ween off of them. If you find that medication helped more, then you can always try it again.

But you should do whatever feels right to you, not anyone else. Its how you feel physically and mentally and no one else can determine that but you. Also, keep in mind if you go off your meds that they may play tricks on you if you have started mentally relying on them. Remember to tell yourself that you can feel good without the pills, because you don't wanna let your mind think that that's the only reason why your depression has gotten better.

I wish you the best of luck. :)

Thanks, I think I will do just as everyone has suggested and start the program and get some of these coping skills down before I do anything. Thank you all so much for just responding back to me.

Hello megirl,

I agree with everyone's comments I just want to add that stopping medication on your own can be very dangerous as well. I am on medication and I still use it along with the program. Don't stop meds on your own, please talk to your doctor and I know what you mean. When I told my doctor she just ignored my comments about the program and reminded me to continue my meds. That's all they know. I have bio-polar disorder, depression and fibromyalia. I don't like taking so much meds either. I am walking to improve my physical and mental health. If you can do any kind of exercise it makes such a difference. I didn't start exercising until I started this program. And I can't believe what a difference it makes in my disposition.

I will not just stop taking my medication on my own; yes I know that can be dangerous. When the time is right I will discuss/ask my Doctor to wean me off. I have started exercising 30 minutes daily and it does help alot.
