You could even do a gradual decrease in caffeine by using half-decaf for a week, then three-fourths decaf the next week. Your system will get off it in a much gentler way.

Having ADD/ADHD will cause you to operate at a higher level if you have coffee, but can make you jittery and anxious as it wears off. Have you ever been tested/diagnosed with ADHD? Basically if you have ADD/ADHD you have lower dopamine available in your brain, causing the telltale symptoms. Caffeine causes your brain to fire off more dopamine, improving mood, symptoms, performance. Unfortunately, it also has negative effects on blood sugar which can cause anxiety for those of us sensitive to it. My son has dual diagnosis' of ADHD and anxiety, and I find his ADHD meds actually calm him despite being a "stimulant". The ADHD brain is wired differently and is actually calmed when stimulated. If you're not ADD/ADHD, you're probably just addicted to caffeine. When I did the program I gave up caffeine and found after a few days I performed just as well, felt just as awake, and did better without it. The first few days can be rough though!

I'm back on caffeine now...I don't let the anxiety get the best of me like I used to, and there are health benefits! :p
