Chat room--trouble?
Hi. I am a video editor so I have run into every conceivable problem on a computer. Since I don't have time to become a computer specialist, my best bet has always been to go to one. Sometimes you have to go through 50 people before you find someone who really knows. They all act like they know, but they don't. Keep trying. If you have a Mac, go to an Apple Store. If it's a PC, call every tech support line that's offered till you find someone. Sometimes it's something stupid like the browser your using is not compatable with the website. In fact, it's usually one tiny detail that someone didn't think of. My experience, go to a specialist. Good luck!
I am not an computer expert. I have just gone through so many problems and your really have to try things until you get it right.
I would start by going to the Adobe site and test to see if your version of flash player works on their site. If it does work, my next guess is it may have to do with your system cache or the browser cache is calling up older pages. Doesn't sound possible, but it can be this. The key is if it works on the adobe site and other people get on the chat room server, it must be something on your computer or the browser that is blocking it. Does that make sense to you?
Here's a quick try at by-passing the clear cache option: right click on the chat room window and see if reload or refresh is an option and select it as you hold down the shift key. If that doesn't work, I am sorry, I am all out of ideas aside from directing you back to Adobe and seeing if they have any suggestions on any trouble shooting help or barring any of these options, my final idea is to try to use another browser.
I am using Google Chrome and it is great once you go through all the stuff needed like downloading a different version of Java.
If you are using Internet Explorer they are too much about control and it could also be a problem with the security settings that are the problem.
I don't know why things have to be this way, nobody here has time to be or become computer engineers. I can appreciate it if you get annoyed by all of this.
Good luck.
