Holly, What I find is that having positive talking on while you are sleeping is huge in helping to change the negative thinking. The tv constantly has all kinds of negative messages that feeds our negative thinking and I wouldn't be surprised if it helps to feed our anxiety, especially if it is feeding our subconscious while we are sleeping.

The cd is all positive goodness and I find that it really helps me when my mind starts to think, think, think and won't stop. My thinking is usually about my life's difficulties with other people or projects that I have to work on and sometimes, I will have thoughts about bizarre things too, like you mentioned. I'm assuming that the cd is helping with my anxiety as well, but I'm not awake to notice, lol :). Yes, you can just leave it on and let it go while you are sleeping. It won't hurt you. Let me know if it helps.

Eileen :)

Hi Holly -

I regularly have this problem too. I have found the best things for me is to exercise during the day so it wears me out and then if I need to stop and sit and read for a few minutes before going to sleep to focus my mind on something than I do. It helps quite a bit.

You might find this annoying but I don't think it is anything to "worry" about. People with anxiety just have active brains. :) I have had the random thoughts for as long as I can remember. I don't notice it every night just every once in a while. Mine has never kept me awake it just starts happening when I lay down and trying to go to sleep. I could imagine that if it were to keep you awake then it would get on your nerves for sure.

I have really enjoyed reading everyone's responses on this.

Hi Holly J

I have mind chatter too. It's so irritating.
Sometimes it says nonsence, other time my mind
says some words or sentences. It's like broken record. Our minds are so tired and overloaded.
You focus entirely on yourself and your thoughts and analyse everything. The mind chatter is so normal under the circumstances.

But you have to remind yourself that it's just a bad habit. It's behavior condition witch can be change after a time.
You can scare yourself with everything that your mind can imagine. We are very imaginative people.
Please don't let your mind chatter scares you. I know it's difficult, but there are so many people with the same condition, with same scary thoughts. You're not alone and definitely NOT CRAZY.
Kind regards!
Gery
