Oh to Be me again,
Do you smoke? or do you drink lots of sodas? Cause i know they can coat your tongue,, Do you brush your tongue when you brush your teeth? Lots of times that will make it go away...

No sodas--no caffeine allowed with atrial fibrillation. Also, no antibiotics, but I do take heart medicine and coumadin for blood thinning. I eat a yogurt every day hoping for "good bacteria" benefits. I do use mouthwash once a day. I've tried to brush it off with my toothbrush, but it won't come off. I do have lots of post nasal drip and am using XLEAR which I found about on this site.

Oh, to be me again. I don't think that you have thrush becasuse it is usually uncomfortable and you would have noticed it sooner. I would bemore likely to feel it's due to your allergies. Tongue issues are also a common side effect of some medications. I suggest calling your pharmacist. You might want have alook at your diet too.

Hey Believer,

Well the tongue is less prevalient today and I was thinking on my ride home yesterday that it was likely the Egg & Cheese Omlette I made Sunday morning. I probably burned it on the cheese or the eggs as I try and eat right off the pan since eggs and toast get cool fast!

As for everything else today, things feel pretty good. The only thing I have today is the fact that I don't have my BP meds today because my prescription ran short when my doc increased my dose. I hope they are there when I get home from work.

Sometimes I wonder if it is the BP meds that causes the chest pain, I heard it could be a side affect, I once asked my doctor and he said no. [shurggs]

Yes eating anything right off the pan will irritate your tongue ALL over again. So if you plan on some soup, I know its great hot but you might want to wait till its room temperature to prevent further aggrevation of your tongue.

As far as blood pressure meds....I take a low dosage of Toporol XL not for blood pressure but because of the rapid heart rate from anxiety/panic. So when I do have a challenge the heart rate won't go too crazy. From what my Doctor has shared that the meds to stay in your system for a while especially the XL ones. So don't panic there. I think you know which tool is best for you at this moment. Be sure to follow up with your Doctor about the refills and that he changes the prescription amount for the pharmacy's records. I know I tend to get aggreviated with the Pharmacy but there only following whats on paper....This is where you take your empowerment and peace back and follow up.

Chest pains.....remember our chest wall is FULL of muscles...and the muscles are all VERY thin. Poke yourself in one spot and you will see that spot WILL be sore for several several days....Amazing uh? As my Doctor shared if you can touch where it hurts its not heart related. The heart is far too deep and very well protected. Sometime our chest cavity such as the breast bone, the sternum get inflammed and aggrevated like someone with arthritis. I think you know its costochrondritis. Stress, high sugars, white flour will aggrevate it, caffeine, and lack of water as well. I normally take an antiinflamatory when it acts up like tylenol and if need by a motrin. But I have been really good with it. I do hope this helps you.

Blessings Always
Have a fabulous day today....

This is why they say I have Costochondritis and I am trying to learn to relax and realize it is physical, but not cardiac.

I have seen enough heart attacks in 15 yrs in EMS (or one would think) to know I am not having one, but, the other symptoms especially the panic are so real they can be devastating. I am trying to keep those at bay more than the pain.

Thanks for all the replies.

I am so glad I stopped back in! I have been away for about 3 years and I am currently coming out of a stressful period in my life so I decided to stop back in and put my mind at ease. I have been have this "tongue issue" for the last few days and it started to have me freak out again. I think I am making it worse by worrying about it cause I am always looking at it (lol-) or rubbing it over my teeth and stuff to see if there is anything on it. Now I am hoping to be able to rest peacefully and keep my mind on some more important things! I forgot was a God send this forum has been to my recovery...I hope all of you are doing well! Take care!
